And if Kiffin/Rathman accomplish enough in the next 3 years to warrant an offer to be a HFC/RB Coach I dare you to find anyone to complain. Yeah, I'd like longevity with a staff... but that's not the state of CFB (recent years) or the NFL (long time now). Staffs move.
With that said, I wouldn't be surprised if LK is the longest tenured coach on the staff. He likes College ball more than NFL ball, I think, but he craves a challenge. Once he gets to the "plateau" in college ball... I think he will move on. Either to another College team or an NFL team (more likely). And I'm fine with that. He got a "has-been" program back up to where it wants to be. I'd much rather have a UT that can hire a coach after a 14-0 season and a NC than a 5-7 team with no bowl game.
Absolutely not. I know he was up for OC jobs when he was at Oakland, and he's turned them down. I think Orgeron said the same thing about being a HC against a DC... and Monte never wanted additional duties as HC.
Who knows. Maybe he does just want to stay as an RB Coach... maybe he does want to give collegiate coaching another try. I wouldn't expect him to be here for more than 3 years. But, if we get him here with Chaney, Cregg (who he's worked with at Oakland) and Kiffin (again) for 3 years... they will take this team to high places.
Well, Rathman would be a tough pull...same with Kippy. But both of these guys would not only be an upgrade as coaches, but would absolutely light up our recruiting mojo.I'd give the nod to Rathman, too.

Why not?
Love the Rathman on TN sidelines idea, but not sure what level of recruiting he can provide. We need a coach/recruiter balance that at least matches Gran's ability. I think there are better options out there (i.e. Rob Ianello - ND or Jay Graham - USCjr).
