Kiffin to address the media at 11 a.m.

I just hope this cuts the Chattanooga area portion of the UT fans base by about 70 percent. They are the Culhanes of UT fandom.

I agree 100%. No need to look like you are playing defense.

bottom line lex,bj wasnt going to be allowed to interfer w/ the q.b. lane wants to bring in.

you know this as well as i do and bj did what he had to do.we the fans get to pay the price :hi:

Actually, My argument is quite a bit stronger. To compete in the SEC you must have depth. Period. In case you missed it, our situation is getting worse.

We've lost a few worthless players and a few players that needed to be kicked out before they became embarrassments on the scale of James Banks. BJ Coleman would have been a nice backup option, but he hasn't proven to be significantly better than Nick Stephens.

Are you serious? Pay the price of losing our third string quarterback? Talk about an offseason hype machine...

I HOPE SO. I HATE TO SEE BJ COLEMAN GO. I THINK HE WOULD HAVE BEEN A GREAT QB.....:wink2

he was the players pick and was gaining mometum as the fans pick.

but that would interfer w/ lil lanes plans to bring in his pick next year.

looks to me like the pickings are getting slim on a freshman q.b. coming and then dont forget hes still a freshman.

i was unimpressed when we hired this clown and even more so now!

he thinks a 4 year rebuild is ok,sorry lil lane your butt will be down the river before your masterpiece is complete.

Yeah, clearly Lane is worried about competition influencing his recruiting. I'm sure he wouldn't try to persuade a top shelf running back to come to UT if we already had 6 running backs on scholarship.

Thank God we have someone that can actually look into the hearts and minds of other UT fans! It is also great because we don't have to worry......he will let us know if Kiffin ever really does anything wrong, so we don't need to speculate.

If you will recall from last season, Crompton also has an ego problem............constantly blaming others for his own misdeeds.

Exactly how long does one player have to go taking all the criticism for the whole offense before he says "Wait a minute..." without being accused of having an ego problem?

The offensive team I saw didn't have receivers that ran the right routes or made catches when they needed to. The OL did not run block or pass block with any kind of consistency. None of the RB's did anything special...

So basically all the talk was about replacing the QB over and over while everyone else pretty much stunk it up too.

I'm not saying Crompton is the right guy or that BJ wasn't. I am saying that JC getting to a point where he was fed up taking the criticism alone is understandable.

I had seen people talking about how much they loved Coleman, but until today I had no idea that it was this ridiculous.

I like how I'd never seen a couple of the Kiffin haters even mention him, but now that he's leaving he was our only hope.

Yep. Since everything Kiffin does is wrong, Coleman and his 8 passes must have been amazing.

I thought BJ was in the thick of the competition, obviously he was not. I did not mind him leaving if he did not want to be here. Now the method he chose, if true to the reports, was not the way to do it.

I agree. I'm shocked everyone is getting so worked up over our 3rd string QB with 8 career pass attempts. I would have liked for him to stay and even thought he might end up as the starter but it's not the end of the world.

Another good move for the team and all Kiffin had to do was be honest and tell BJ the truth.

Time will prove BJ was nowhere close to SEC caliber QB material. And, with all that BJ has said, the monkey is squarely on his back to prove otherwise--and no amount of yards playing for UTC versus the Citadel does that.

This was also the best way to end a controversy about why the Vols aren't throwing it effectively this fall. We already know we won't be. Now, we don't have the false pretense that BJ can and the 'why aren't they playing him' debate. He'll be forgotten by then.

The whole uproar would have been based on an over-inflated view of Coleman. That's gone. And, as others have noted, this will have no effect on what will be a running offense.

There you go again, same 'ole song and dance.

It sounded like Coleman didn't have very much respect for the way Kiffin was running the team. But then again, because he didn't s-p-e-l-l i-t o-u-t f-o-r y-o-u, it can't be true.

Geez VD...can you really be that obtuse?

What a profound statement. Obviously Coleman didn't like the way he was running the team because he wasn't getting his way and being the number one guy. I bet Morley didn't like the way Kiffin was running the team either. Get a clue man. Just go back to your Mom's basement to your Phillip Fulmer shrine.

I feel like there will still be people saying "OMG look how good Coleman is against absolutely terrible competition! We should have kept him as our starter in the SEC!"

Maybe not, but doing it against the App St's and Furman's could. Look at Joe Flacco. The defenses he played against were crap and he still got in the first day of the draft. Not saying that he'll be a pro, but the SoCon is the SEC of the FCS.

You missed the point. Nice job. Try reading the post before that entry where I was asked to produce an example where Kiffin wasn't "respected".

This blind love for Kiffin is getting disgusting.

I think you're right, but it will be less effective without BJ being anywhere in sight of the field.

I also like your views on Nick.

Do you know if Nick is doing better with the players who are on the team this year? Seems he didn't get along as well with some last year and that he felt they were slackers--and many were. That's not the case this year, so the balance of the team may be more like him--hellbent on winning.

This is all speculation from watching/reading and not based on any inside info, so please correct whatever's off base.

OK what did he do in spring?

His former coach is A.D. at Brentwood!!!!!! and doesn't like it!

He was by far the best QB during spring, and from the state of TENNESSEE.

Hatvol96, you can kiss my backside! I don't know what a Culhane is, but Chattanoogans love UT! We are all better than your sorry ass. 32 thousand or 32 million posts. And post back where ur at. we (U and ME) can talk about what a culhane is in person and how we can cut 70 percent off of what really needs to be CUT!

People are basing opinions on what is out there in the public view - about 10% of the story - and it's clips in an article, BJ's rant, and his HS coach swearing up and down he knows the facts...(was he there on a 3am call as well? Spurrier is that you?)

Keep this in mind - wasn't it known that only about 20% of the offensive schemes used during the O&W game? BJ may have mastered that 20%. What about the other 80%? We have no clue what truly went on behind the scenes to lead to Kiffin concluding Crompton was #1 as of now. Seeing as how BJ didn't want one more crack in the fall, I'd question something else besides skill as being a motivator.

Honestly I don't think a guy walking in the door trying to rebuild a program is purposefully going to shoot himself in the foot. Kiffin is not leaning to Crompton because he thinks he's cute or he's his favorite drinking buddy.

Point is - there is more to the story than you know..perhaps will ever know. And judging by what has been made known, BJ made his case worse by his response to the situation. Other coaches might be second guessing his coming to their campus after that display. If you act like a diva you better first sing like one. Good luck to him but I'm leaving this to the part we just don't know about.
