I know ya all probably already have read or heard, but i didn't see a thread yet. Kiffin supposedly is still after Garner. ESPN reported, and I heard it on the radio. He is apparently willing to move coach O to LBs to let Garner coach the D line.

Listen, as much as I'd like to get Garner, moving Coach O away from D-Line is crazy.

I just posted in another thread... Kiffin will be meeting with Garner tomorrow (1/6)

He doesn't like to lose.

They wouldn't move Coach O away from the d-line if they weren't confident he could do the same type of job with the linebackers.

Garner doesn't want to ruffle any feathers, and honestly I think his heart is in Georgia with his family. Some of you guys may not like Richt, but obviously he's a pretty good guy and that's one of the BIG reasons Garner stayed. Sometimes it's not about the money.

Upon further review of the article it just states that Kiffin made a last ditch effort by proposing O moving to LB so RG could coach DL...but that RG said that might frustrate team chemistry and decided against it. So I would say we can officially put the RG talks to rest boys.

Isn't Garner recruiting? How are they meeting again? Were did you get this?

Let it go! It's over!

Yea, I took it that way too, but on 104.5 in Nashville tonight, they said he was still trying to make a run at him.

he has coached linebackers before for three years at Nicholls State so you know he could do it, its worth it for another ace recruiter, especially with the odds of getting gonzo decreasing.

Then why did Garner initiate this process? Is it something he and Richt cooked up?

I know I am sticking my neck out here, but it is not over yet. I am not saying Garner is all Vol, but there will be one more meeting to try and swing him back to UT. If he still declines then it is over.

One more day.

Moving O isn't about having the best coach at a position, it's about having the most recruiters on staff as possible. Best talent wins period. Plus with Monte not taking a position to coach he could pick up the slack wherever it's needed. It was a nice try, and I applaud Kiffin for staying after RG, but I don't think this is gonna work out for us. At least we are willing to do everything possible to bring in the best talent possible.
