Kiffin Reprimanded by SEC, as was Mullen (merged)

Well, first, I just don't buy into the conspiracy theories about that. But, I do agree that Florida has been on the better end of that stick at least twice this year. Last, I don't think that any of the calls made a difference in the outcome of games.

1) I do agree that there should not have been a personal foul call versus the Arky player. On the other hand, it sure looks like that did not add much to Florida's position in that game. And, as has been pointed out by many, officials didn't make the Arky kicker miss.

2) The pass interference call on Arky was certainly close enough that its hard ot argue with it. The Arky player turned to the Florida player and pushed off of him, then turned back to the ball. Might another official have seen it differently and not called it? I suppose. But that is often the case on such calls and so you can't really fault him for that.

3) I did think in the MSU game that the ball came out of Doe's hand before he crossed the goal line. But, given MSU's inability to move the ball offensively all night, I just think we win by a smaller margin, is all.

See, here's the thing.....it doesn't matter what you think.

The calls were bad...not to mention some questionable no-calls that favored Florida...and you can't say with any certainty that they didn't impact the outcome of those games.

You can debate until the cows come home whether this play might have led to an alternative universe. That is a problem inherent in the system. But unless it involves a call at the very end of the game, the last series or last play, then its hard to be convincing with such an argument of "what if" because you don't know -- i.e. it is equally likely that MSU gets the ball, is three and out and punts to James who runs it back for a TD.

In denial just like I thought you would. Enjoy all you can this year, when Timmmmmy leaves your done.

Would've bet at least tomorrow before 5150 or posi was all over this.

Here's a thought. The day you get the memo to stop posting drivel, Kiffin will get the memo to stop making controversial remarks.

Several key problems with Kiffin's behavior. Second offense of criticizing of coaches, officials, etc. in the media (against SEC regulations).

I have yet to see Spurrier or Meyer be "reprimanded" for what they said about Kiffin this year.

Spurrier questioned whether Kiffin "took the test".

Meyer called out Kiffin for not "playing to win the game".

It goes both ways...It goes both ways.

The best way to get someone’s (Mike Slive’s) attention is to have their boss “discuss” it with them. My question: Who does the SEC Commissioner report to?

Kiffin needs to shut his mouth and coach. Once again, he incorrectly interpreted the rules.

Oh? And what is your interpretation of the rules? It's my understanding that rules aren't really up to interpretation, they are generally pretty black and white. They gray area is when it comes to "judgement calls".

Maybe Lane will say something about this officiating.

that's great, are you really trying to make a case for Defensive pass int? These photo's CLEARLY show Jones making contact first... What say ye?

In theory, the university presidents. Since we have an interim idiot, we have no voice.

Cody taking off his helmet is a dead-ball foul. Understand?

Was it? Cody plowed through Sullins, and the ball was blocked behind the LOS, thus a live ball. It doesn't matter that the clock ran out, it was a live ball.

Someone else pointed out that the officials even pointed the ball out to the Alabama defenders, which 1) seems really strange that they would assist in the play, and 2) indicate that the ball is still live. Doesn't that make you scratch your head?

It matters not that it was a "live ball", the penalty for taking off the helmet IS A DEAD-BALL FOUL.

What makes me scratch my head is why you are so surprised they blocked the kick.

What's your excuse for the rest of the bad calls?

Friend, we won 7 in a row against the Bammers, which includes winning in Tuscaloosa during that time period. There is no conspiracy. Wake up. We lost a very close game, but we lost. Don't blame the refs.

Reprimanding these coaches just brings more attention to the suspicious officiating in the conference.

The officiating hurt Tennessee against Bama....MSU against Florida....and South Carolina was awarded a BS touchdown against Vandy on Saturday. Not to mention the controversy surrounding the officials in previous week's SEC games.

Slive has a mess on his hands.

yea, not to mention a TD was awarded to BAMA in the USCe game that shouldn't have...... oh wait, NM you and your crony's said the refs were right on with that call and that it shouldn't have been reviewed..... my bad.

That's a big glass of kool-aide you're drinking. When are you guys going to realize that he needs to watch his mouth. Granted, as much as I hate to say it, in many cases this year he has proven a good coach on the field. But his mouth is getting him into hot water. It's not just Gator fans that are saying it. I saw many bammers on here saying the same thing as well as USCe fans. Go on tigerdroppings and look in SEC rant and see what other SEC fans think about5 Kiffy's mouth. He needs to grow up a bit.

Wow , are you kidding, you mean other SEC fans say bad things about our coach and dont like what he is doing. well we need to fix that cause we all really care about the gators, Bammers, Gamecocks, etc...feelings.

No one is arguing about the past. A few years ago when Wilhoit won the game against florida with that 51 yarder, florida fans could have claimed that they were jobbed on the unsportsmanlike penalty earlier on that drive. The point is that the officiating THIS YEAR has been pretty bad, and the majority of the bad calls seem to be favoring a select few teams.

The burden is on the person advocating that the calls were bad to prove that it made a difference. And it is unprovable in 99 % of the situations.

I'd like to give credit to the poster who pointed this out before, but I can't recall who it was...

Check out the 15 second mark of this video. The referee clearly points the ball out to the alabama defenders. YouTube - Alabama vs Tennessee '09 blocked field goal

On a side note, would we be allowed to advance it had we recovered the ball? If so, it annoys the heck out of me that our players don't seem to be looking for the ball. It looks like they've decided to just trot off the field.
