here is my email:
Hello Mr. Slive,
I just saw the number one headline on the SEC's website. No, it wasn't a blocked kick. It wasn't an athlete making the dean's list. It was the SEC reprimanding Lane Kiffin for his comments. There has been a lot of controversy regarding the SEC's officials with recent (important) games being decided by a few calls. It seems that you want the best team that day to win the game, and that the game should not be in a referee's hands. Suspending the referees that were at the LSU/Georgia game was a good first step.
You seem to be dropping the ball when it comes to other games, however. Arkansas ran into terrible calls as well as Mississippi State this week (both against the UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA). Is that a coincidence? I would hope so. The Tennessee Volunteers also had their fair share of missed calls in their game against Alabama, another "top-2" team representing the SEC's Western division. The calls have been made, and you have reprimanded who you are going to reprimand. I will not dispute that. It is your decision how you will work (fairly or unfairly) with the SEC's coaches. They know the rules.
I have TWO questions for you that I would love for you to answer.
1. Look at this youtube video, please. Can you tell me WHY the referee pointed to the football so the Alabama player could gain possession and end the game? It is 100% evident that as soon as the referee looked at the Alabama player and pointed at the ball, that the Alabama player quickly changed direction and ran and picked up the ball. I am not going to even dispute the entire Alabama team charging the field and Cody removing his helmet in tears. I will not. I'd love to hear your take on why an official would help a player gain a competitive advantage in that situation.

2. Why was Tennessee called for 8 penalties while Alabama only 1? If you read Nick Saban's comments, he said "we were really tired and worn down". Wouldn't somebody who is "tired" and "worn down" be prone to making mistakes? You are going to tell me that the LEAST PENALIZED team in the SEC has EIGHT TIMES as many penalties as Alabama? So, Alabama played a FLAWLESS game? I just do not get it. Again, these two questions clearly point out that the officiating was in Alabama's favor.
I'm not going to dispute the entire Alabama team breaking the rules by charging the field (and removing their helmets) but I will ask you why there were so many missed calls on Alabama's end, but the calls against Tennessee were "crystal clear"....As clear as that BCS crystal football, right?
Hopefully Kiffin is done trying to have a relationship with you because every time he wants to tell the truth and point out how it is, you reprimand him. I didn't see you reprimand Urban Meyer when he called out Lane Kiffin for not "trying to win the game".
Please be fair with the entire SEC. PLEASE. The integrity of the game and this conference is starting to fade quickly.
I will be waiting for your response. Thank you for your time.
