Kiffin quote from Rome Show today.....Unreal

He didn't say that...I heard it live and you can go to the thread about it on TOS, they are saying the same thing.

He said:
"The recruits weren't coming to UT to wear the COLOR uniform, they were coming to play for this coaching staff."
Off-topic, but looking at your profile pic, if you'll rub that bird down w/ some soft butter and veg oil, and dial your smoke back a bit, the legs won't dry out on you so bad. Otherwise a fine looking bird.

Leaving after 3-4 years, once we were built back up, is one thing. Running off 16 players, then the better part of another signing class, is another. He made us unwilling participants in a mexican donkey show.

With most things in life there is a right way and a wrong way. He did it the wrong way. Its pretty simple, it goes to down to just being a decent person - of which he is not. We gave him money, control, and the chance to further his career. He bit of the hand... no, make that the upper body... of the arm that fed him.

Always striving for the next best thing is fine in theory, but thats why people buy crap they can't afford and why the divorce rate is > 50%. At some point, people just have to make a decision that isn't 100% focused on numero uno.

If Kiffin had built us up and left in the off season... fine. But he just sent this program back to the stone ages. We will be lucky to have 60 SEC quality athletes for 2010.

We're going to be reminiscing on the good ole days of the Sullins brothers manning our o-line in a couple of years.... it could very well get that bad.

But hey, as long as Kiffin follows his dream, I guess its OK, right?

I guess it depends on what your expectations are. I've seen enough in recent years that I would never expect a football coach to act in anything BUT his own narrow self-interest, so I just can't must up a giant feeling of personal betrayal about that. It never really occurred to me to think that he might care anything about the Tennessee football program at all except as a vehicle for his own career.

I don't disagree with anything that you say. Everything about it worked out in the worst possible way for us. But mostly I'm just incredibly pissed off and frustrated at the timing of it. I can't feel betrayed by Kiffin because I never felt any expectations of him otherwise.

I agree 100%. What Kiffin did was the equivalent of a man up and leaving his wife and newborn child

What did he say? Did you hear the interview?

I heard the interview and he did not say "yellow." What I heard was that the recruits didn't come to wear that "color uniform." Someone might have mistook "color" for "yellow."

His point is that most of the recruits came to play for his staff- not for our particular university.

He repeated his same line about fans being mad because Kiffin must have been doing something right . . . USC his dream job . . . etc.

No big surprise. I supported him despite his asinine remarks. It was always clear he's a narcissist, but the first real red flag popped up for me during Pilotgate.
When he began talking about how hard the whole thing had been on him I began to realize the depths of his egomania.

Sure enough, he bolts and his parting remarks are to give us a "generic thank you" (his words), and to remind of how lucky we were to have them the last 14 months.

Then in the ESPN interview the other night he says the UT student "riot" was becuase people were so passionate about what they were doing here, and we were disappointed to see them go. EDIT: What dsbyrd said above.

I really believe Kiffin is of moderate intelligence, but he has the golden BS and manipulation gift in spades.

They might not know it yet, but Tennessee Volunteers fans lucked out when Lane Kiffin left - ESPN

I vote for this one. Glad he's gone, not just from ya'lls team, but from the SEC. He would've brought a lot of trouble to the conference. He's toxic regardless of where he is.

He didn't deserve a job in this conference.

You are exactly right!!! That is the smartest thing I have ever heard an Alabama fan say!! :good!: Just jokin around, but on a serious note...the only job on this side of the country he deserved w/ managing one of the many 2nd rate used car lots scattered across the southeast!!! Being a good enough salesman to hook the Tennessee job with schit for a coaching resume and then convince the Vol Faithful he was here to win championships shows he would for sure have no problem convincing someone to buy a P.O.S. car from him!! UT took a chance on him and he screwed us. Al Davis was right...Kiffin is a damn liar!!! F.U. Kiffin!!!

Agree there.

To address the motivations, there are still class guys like Paterno, Mack Brown, etc. that handle themselves with class and would NEVER take part in his shenanigans. The list dwindles continually, sadly.

But as is the obvious case, lane kiffin is incredibly far removed from being a class guy.

What a dick. That Karma thing, it's a ***** though, and I don't think Lame will find the confines of So. Cal so friendly when the NCAA follows him there to look in on not only his latest shenanigans, but those of Pete Carrol as well.

Honestly I know you don't want to hear from a rival fan at this point, but I so wish a UT fan would bust Lane in the mouth and eye! Oh video of it would be superb! Your not the only ones who revile his tactics!

My wife is a psychologist and she classifies Lame Kitten as a class A Narcissist, meaning he only thinks and acts in ways that will benefit himself, regardless of whether it hurts others or not. She also thinks he could be a sociopath. One of the warning signs is people who have no remorse for others and who regularly lie and keep lying to cover up previous lies. Sociopaths also convince themselves that the things they do are right and just even when they clearly are hurtful, deceitful and/or dangerous to others.

Scary how similar the correlation of these PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS are to what we have heard come from Lame's mouth since he left Knoxville (and even before).

* saying the students rioting was because they didn't want him to leave...
* saying that recruits only came to UT last year because of him and the coaching staff, not the university/academics/tradition, etc
*saying that he was not aware that O face made calls to EE's while he was addressing the team Wednesday night.

USC is getting exactly what they deserve and in light of the last 3 days, I thank them for taking this manchild with apparent psychological issues off our hands. We would have been on probation sooner or later with that mod squad at the helm.

Okay, I have been a Vol fan since I cared about college football. This was back in the Bill Battle days. I had two friends play for Johnny and My wife and daugher are both alumni. I liked Phil, and watched as he was painfully extricated from the Head Coaching position. I was not particularly enthused with the choice of Lane, but I had high hopes and wanted him to succeed.

And he did in a way. The Vols ended up much better this year than most of thought they would. Him leaving is a surprise. But the timing was not completely his doing. The Seahawks hired Pete Carrol right after the close of their season. The search at USC began and Kiffin was hired fairly quickly. Not good for Tennessee, but no real skullduggery. I say let him go. If he doesn't want to be here, LEAVE.

But to make comments like this, even if you believe it, is beyond the pale. Here in the South we have long held the belief that RUDENESS is the 8th deadly sin, and this was way beyond rude.

This guy can rot in hell with a broke back. His insults against UT are just going to get worse as he keeps seeing the way that folks back here (and most of the national media) are trashing his classless, scum-bag tenure here in Knoxville.

If the offer is still open to go out there and set him on fire, I'm in.

Here's how it's gonna go. In my opinion USC goes on probation for just about 3 years. Kiffen takes all the loses.:) 3 years from now Monte retires they fire Kiffen and then a good football coach will ride in and resurect the Trojans. Thats how it'll go down! Lane Kiffen :the_finger:
