After watching CLK's intensity and work ethic, never satisfied attitude, all business approach, and ability to game plan, I think Kiff goes into Florida week expecting to win---and will have Vol players in the same mode when they board the plane. While it may not happen, believing you CAN do something is half the battle. I am totally impressed with this guy. Take care of UCLA---then it is on! Pressure will be on the favored gators, not Tennessee. Go Vols!

Kiffin plans to win 'em all.

The only thing I wish is that UT had a road game before going to Florida. That is a tough place to play and little things get screwed up when traveling.

Gee, isn't the thread title a little "DUH!"?

I mean what do you expect a coach to do? Plan to loose?

I can see it now "KIFFIN PLANS TO LOOSE TO FLORIDA"

I think Kiffin's crazy enough to actually EXPECT to beat Florida. I think he is instilling that attitude in his team to beat UCLA this week. He will carry that over into the following week for the Gators

Mind you, I'm already daydreaming about what a win over FL would be like.

Has a number 1 ranked team ever lost to an unranked opponent on their home field? It could be the upset of the ages!

I'm sure that has happened before.

Win of the ages was Appy State over Michigan in the Big House

I really believe the last few years UT has went in the UF game with no confidence. Just because a few players are confident, doesnt mean the team is. I also think Fulmer knew that he couldnt beat cryer.

I agree with you.

And I have found that when you "know" you can't win, you lose a lot.

The great thing this year is that no one outside of the Vol Nation thinks we have a prayer to win this one. All of the pressure is on Tebow and crew. After all of the trash talk from Gainsville, can you imagine what it would be like for UF, the shame of knowing that you just got beat by someone you described as "Bozo?"

its amazing what a little bit of confidence can do for the psyche of a 18-22 year old, the gators better look out, not going to be as easy as they are portraying, to quote a sports analyst that really annoys me, closer than the experts think

OrangeTsar, That would be the ultimate insult. To go into their home stadium and beat them. Lane "Bozo the loud-mouth" Kiffin beat the Gators. How great a moment that would be. And can you imagine what that would do for recruiting? Lane said he would beat FL and he DID. What a moment that would be. I would pay to see the looks on all the Gators' faces and hear what Tebow has to say. Ah I can deam can't I?

I think with Kiffin, there is a little bit of the "DUH" factor, but I don't think this type of thinking is totally out of the ordinary. For example, CRN has made several comments that make me, and others on this board, believe that he is expecting to loose the game this Saturday. Things like,
"I don't want them to avoid the excitement that comes with playing in that kind of venue," Neuheisel said. "I think you're missing out on something that's a memory for a long time, and how positive a memory it's going to be is up to how well we play."

from this article:

Young Bruins have a travel plan for visit GoVolsXtra

There have been other similar comments, that I am too tired and lazy to find. However, my point is that this is not an unprecedented thought process, even for coaches at major college programs like Neuheisel at UCLA.

My todo list for Sept 20:

1) Send the Florida team a picture of Bozo the Clown signed "Who's Your Daddy?"
2) Send Paul Finebaum a registered letter, return receipt requested, containing a copy of his Feb 12, 2009 column in which he called on UT to immediately fire Kiffin and bring in Gruden.

Start your own thread-----My objective was to bolster those in here that feel Tennessee has no chance vs UF.

As long as UT can keep it close in the first half... the gators better watch out. Nothing more uplifting than going into halftime and knowing that you're pressing the #1 team in the nation. And if that's the case, I think we come out even stronger in the 2nd half.

i remember a time not too long ago when we went into the swamp with a good rushing attack and a solid defense, and were huge underdogs AND we came out with a win(see travis stephens/vols 2001). It can be done again

If nothing else CLK has stuck an IV of adrenaline into the UT-UF rivalry. I haven't seen this much hate & passion for this game in years. Its truly amazing!
