What is anti-Kiffin about that story?
I reported earlier this summer there was an issue with secondary violations....and Mike Slive said the same thing two or three weeks later.
What's the fuss over me saying Lane Kiffin is fixing some of the problems with the team?

Whats the point of the article? To let us know that Kif brought in a great class, we already know that. Must be a slow day for you.

Thanks for the article. As we get through these practices I hope you'll let us know how these guys are progressing. We are starving for info.

I think it's clear that we are in the process of infusing the program with talent that hasn't been seen on a broad scale in quite a while.

I was researching Vols in the NFL for another story, and
I was taken aback at just how few offensive skill position players were remaining....

So, I turned the info I learned into a blog -- no sense wasting it, and if I find something I think is interesting I share it.

:)

i appreciate you sharing it, but what i initially responded to was the title being a bit misleading, i guess. i assumed it was going to be ABOUT practice. :)
that being said, i agree with you about the players in the NFL. it's not what tn fans are used to.

I would absolutely hate to be a writer in Knoxville, everyone on GVX is criticized to no end on every article published. I thought the article was informing and well-written.

Griff, some sound advice from your pal hatvol: I wouldn't be quick to use anything a pompous pinhead like Mike Slime says to bolster my point. Slime is to college athletics what Michael Brown was to FEMA.

Live Slive or not, he's the grand pooh bah and what he says is relevant

:shades:
He has exactly as much control over the football coaches in the SEC that he did over the basketball coaches in C-USA. The Meyers and Sabans of the world will eventually tire of being lectured by a commodity cheese version of Myles Brand and do what the Pitinos and Huggins of the world did: tell him to shut up and go perform anatomically impossible acts upon himself.

Slive has more control than that....he sends the SEC investigator(s) where he decides he needs to.

There's no getting around that Kiffin needs to stay on his good side.

I did the Doug Gottlieb show on ESPN this afternoon, and he said Kiffin had made "embarrassing'' comments since being hired

I said Kiffin said it was by design and it led to UT signing four great prospects, also, that Vols' fans loved the guy and the fact that UT is being talked about nationally again.

Did I do ok? :birgits_giggle:

Good blog but I dont see how it was anti-kiffin. U guys on here need to quit being so pessimistic and let a little orange in ur heart. This guy was just saying that kiffin is trying to fix the problem with our lack of ball handlers on offense, give him a break until you can write something better. Go Vols!!!

Come on Griff, you don't actually think the SEC is really going to sanction a member institution do you? Slime isn't about to hurt league revenues or the product ESPN/Disney puts on TV. Wish I had listened to Gottlieb's show today. He's one of a handful of ESPN employees who didn't spend their childhood eating lead paint chips.

I don't think Slive wants to sanction any of his member schools, for sure....but just as the other schools circled the wagons to go after Bama, if Kiffin starts having too much success and something smells funny, I wouldn't be surprised to see some interesting alliances formed.....Not saying that will happen, just throwing a scenario out there where Slive would be forced into looking closer
