Again, my post was literally about a leopard NEVER changing spots..EVER..It's anatomically impossible..As to why you decided to reply to a post about Kiffin, in a Kiffin thread, and make it all about you, would be pure speculation at this point..But I'm sure your metaphorical "spot change" probably fits in there somewhere..
I'm glad you can spell, define and use the word allegory in a sentence but, bless your heart, you might want to learn how to use the "quote" and "reply" actions before lecturing folks on a message board..Just sayin'.....

Same reason Pete Carroll suffered losing his last 2 or so seasons at USC. The league was historically USC and everybody else. But in this era you can have schools that were basically nobodies either have exceptional seasons or enjoy upsets heretofore unthinkable. Boise was kicking azzes and taking names, Baylor rose to prominence, Missouri won the SEC east twice, Texas has been getting its rear end handed them or nearly so by shoo fly schools, and even in basketball there were "What Dat?" Loyola-Chicago type teams. You can be Mike Tyson all you want, then along comes a Buster Douglas journeyman who knocks you on your backside and make you serve him applesauce with his hackberry pie.

Was a time I briefly felt we might have to settle for Kiffin since it seemed no one else seriously wanted the job. But I don't trust him. The lingering feeling being he'd relish coming back so he can pull the same stunt on us and laugh his arse off. But he is a heck of a coach. Any P-5 school that schedules his FAU boys better watch out. He darn nigh beat Bama with a UT team loaded with basically walkon linemen. A Bama so scared of him they tried to pull a sneaky deactivation of his sideline headsets. He demanded that if he couldn't use his, they shouldn't use theirs either. Problem instantly fixed when it was clear the refs would back him up on this. Give credit where it's due.

Now, why not put the Kiffin hate aside? Cheer for our Pruittian team. Holler like crazy when Grant Williams is called from the student section to suit up as an emergency replacement TE. Then holler again when he scores his first TD by bulldozing a Georgia linebacker on the way to the end zone. So much better than just being a hater for an irrelevant personage, eh?

I love him back. Kiffin is a real class act and would have really been the guy we needed after the debacle we had this winter.

Jury is still out on Pruitt.

with all due respect, i predict TN will continue sucking for the next 3 years. Thats the reality. I don't think Pruitt has what it takes I'm confident of that.

TNScooby, just a thrown out there comment. In these days of genetic engineering, while a leopard can't change its own spots, it might be possible to get it done artificially. It's the "Stranger Things" era, you know. :)

I think Kiffy has changed, not much but that he's now motivated more by vengeance than previously. I wasn't kidding about him being focused on either sneaking or bulling FAU into the BCS picture just to shake things up and poke Saban where it will be at least painful. 2018 they scheduled Oklahoma, 2019 they scheduled Ohio State and might add one more P-5 school. Kiff is aiming high and has the coaching acumen and I believe just enough quality 3-star recruits to pull off a Petersen era Boise State year. Then making it difficult for the BCS to ignore them as a playoff team.

Pruitt has been a winner where ever he’s been.

If Pruitt can’t win at UT, it’s very likely that UT will never win again.

The sanctions USC was going through when he was hired and very limited depth with all the lost scholarships.His first 3 years, He was 28-15 at USC and 10-2 in yr 2. He finished 1st in the Pac 12. Problem was his first 2 yrs at USC they could go to a bowl or win a conference championship. He also walked into having his first 3 yrs decimated with scholarship losses. 30 scholarship losses his first 3 yrs. I don't have a clue why he was fired. Never had a losing season and losing 10 scholarships per year for 3 yrs is impossible to overcome.

My concern would be the probation he left for us in the one yr he was HC. He also threw the 2 girls that were sent to see a recruit under the bus and cost them their jobs. He didn't take ownership of it and he was bangin half of the TN coeds. I wish we had hired him later in his career and not when he was too immature for a job like ours. He can flat out coach an offense and QB's. He is also an elite recruiter, who has contacts to put a great staff together like he did his yr here.

Pruitt had to start at the bottom in the coaching ranks and work his way through HS then moving on to college. Lane took advantage of who his dad was and got to skip a few coaching steps. I'll take a Pruitt coaching path as our HC over Lane's ANYDAY. JP has paid his dues as where Lane didn't and has had to learn stuff the hard way. I trust Pruitt to not have us on probation in 5 yrs and not having to worry about a scandal involving numerous coeds showing up every few months.
