This is a question about the past for older fans who can remember back farther than I can...and also a question about the future for everyone...

Is Lane Kiffin now the most hated person in the history of UT athletics?

Has anyone ever come close to screwing us this bad?

Is it possible for someone to come along in the future and screw us worse than this?

I ask this last one because I can't think of more of a worse case scenario (short of us being put on probation for something Kiffin did whiel here) than where we're at right now

I'll be 65 this year and I don't recall any coach in any sport who acted with less class. He's #1 on my list.

BTW - Has anyone ever heard a head coach at a major university who had such poor verbal skills?

Maybe you guys can think of one, but I can't recall ANY Div 1 head coach signing a deal with one school and then leaving for another Div 1 head coaching job at a different school after 1 season.

Anybody?

Actually, Doug Dickey was pretty well despised. He resigned to go to Florida and then coached the bowl game against them with no coaching involved. He was quite universally hated by the orange faithful. He later rehabilitated himself and was a very good AD at UT.

I am disappointed in LK. I don't hate him. However, Mike Hamilton is a scum sucking bottom dweller and I can find room to hate him. He MUST go.

To this day, every time my dad says Doug Dickey's name, he says it like he's got a dogturd in his mouth. He left a lot of bitter fans behind when he jilted UT for Florida.

Kiffin's got to be #1 now, though. The biggest villan of the message board/Sportscenter/talk radio era automatically becomes the biggest villan of all time.

I wouldn't doubt it. I hate him more than anyone I can think of since I started following when I actually got old enough to understand UT football.

NO doubt about it! I HATE HIM MORE THAN ANYONE!!!!!!!!! I hope he never wins a game for the rest of his career.

Back in the old days when Dickey betrayed UT, you just read it in the newspaper and had to sit there and stew about it by yourself in your living room. Today you can scream about it in the echo chamber of an internet message board from your phone. You can be taunted by rival fans whom you've never seen. It's no wonder the level of vitriol is about 1000 times higher.

The thing that brings me to the point of hate is that he left last night instead of today. He did that for a couple of reasons. He wanted to try to get the EE's before class started, and he didn't want Hamilton back in town because that would make it hard to steal our players on the way out.

It pisses me off even more to know I defended him about the rule violations when he and Orgeron commit one on the way out the door.

I was at that bowl game and Dickey didn't try to win it. He lied about going to Florida and then announced it the day after the bowl game. I coouldn't belive the administration brought him back. He's a close #2 (pun intended)

If it is true that Orgeron was using UT resources to try to convince UT recruits to bounce to UCS before the public announcement was even made that the three were leaving, I think this will not only make Kiffin/Orgeron the biggest villains in UT sports history. It should also make for some pretty interesting and protracted civil litigation, with alleged damages well in excess of the $800,000 buyout. Just a hunch.

Man would I love to take that case.

I'd just about do it gratis because I'm a Vol. Then, without feeling the slightest bit corny, I could start every morning by saying "I'm going to give my all for Tennessee today."

God, that would be excellent. :)
