He's settling in nicely. It's not going to be dull around Knoxville with Lane around. Personally i like his demeanor...all business, that's how it should be.

My thoughts exactly.

And while I'm at it... I am about sick of some of our fans who complain Kiffin doesn't smile enough. If he bites the heads off kittens and punts puppies when he goes home I could give two you know what's.

Should put a shirt together that says "Got Kiffin's smile?" in reference to being in on the joke and the smile he's bringing to Tennessee's fans.

Next year, and the years to follow, when UT starts winning alot and Slive starts to want to come around UT and make nice, if I was CLK my response would be "I don't think so..... Scooter"

Maybe CLK doesn't get the chance, but media ridicule is mounting on SEC officiating and they will have to do something about it sooner rather than later; and I DON'T MEAN suspending coaches OR officials for a week. Member school ADs need to man up and demand some accountability

Great article.

I've said (typed) it before and I'll say (type) it again...Lane Kiffin is Steve Spurrior, circa 1993, the orange and white version.

Spurrier was 11-2 and won the SEC with a 8-1 record in 1993. Beat Bama 28-13 in SEC Championship game.

Spurrier's FIRST year was 1990 went 9-2 with a 6-1 SEC record. DC was current Bucs' DC, Jim Bates. The rest included Jim Collins, Dwayne Dixon, Tim Marcum, Rich Mcgeorge, John Reaves (Sr.), and Bob Sanders. They certainly didn't have the credentials that ut's current staff has. Spurrier won first, then ran his loud mouth. But, other than all that...they're the same ?

ut could still approach "Spurrrior" circa 1992, though. 9-4with a 6-3 SEC record.

I just write what I see and believe. Sometimes y'all like it, sometimes not..

That probably means you're balanced in your reporting, for the most part. I noted that earlier, but I think the imbalance/bias that bothered many here was your views on Monte versus Chavis.

A lot of us were fine with Chavis, but we realize that Monte is far better and that we're extremely lucky to have him.

FWIW... just my 2 cents...

I'm still glad you post and interact here with us. You've done a lot better with posting your thoughts and sharing opinions outside your articles. That's a positive here with VN posters, imo.

Lets see our coach gets in trouble with Slive. Who threatens suspension if any more comments are made. In turn the Knoxville media try an coax him into saying something which might result in said suspension. Way to take care of our coach morons!

At first, I just thought the Florida and Alabama folks were just trying to stir it up...But i finally realized....they are scared to death....if not...why even bother with a reply on a TENNESSEE VOLS WEBSITE (screaming for effect). I have NEVER been to a gator or tide website. The facts really are obvious. Lane has turned this around.

He was talking pretty early at Florida. This famous zinger was from 1991.
On Georgia's recruiting after a 45-13 win in 1991 over the Bulldogs: "Why is it that during recruiting season they sign all the great players, but when it comes time to play the game, we have all the great players? I don't understand that. What happens to them?"

CLK will be a hoot at media days next year. The key will be to stay out of trouble for a while early in the year. We now know you get three strikes with Slive each calendar year, so CLK should save em up and then throw two real zingers that count.

It's like playing "hatchet man" in basketball. You know you get five fouls, so make the first four mean something :)
