CLK given a rating of 12 (out of 100) on Newsweek mag's "ethics meter," based on his alleged "pumping gas" comment.

given my low opinion of Newsweek, i consider this an honor for our coach!

It's based solely on his "pumping gas" comment? THen there's lots of things wrong with Newsweek in this article.

1) What would his ethics rating be if they also factored in his comments about Urban Meyer? -4?

2) That "pumping gas" comment was never proven, and the recruit supposedly admitted on the phone that Kiffin never said that, and didn't know where that quote came from. The media has been ignoring this, yet they report the hearsay of the comment...

3) LOTS of coaches use negative recruiting. They did a huge story a couple years ago how it is Charlie Weiss's signature on ESPN. I heard a small report where Urban Meyer a few years ago said that UT would NEVER be significant as long as he's coach at UF. So, why is the Kiffin comment such a huge deal to everyone? (Especially since there's more proof that he DIDN'T say it than proof that he did).

i love how people just ignore the fact that he denies the pumping gas comments.... i really hate the media right now but i mean, this seems to all be a part of Kiffins plan.

Who appointed them as givers of gospel truth on ethics?
CLK already said he never said that and just on the surface it would seem unlikely that any coach would say something like that anyway. I'm sure that Newsweek never tried to even check the veracity of the quote, so where would that leave them ethics wise? I give them 10 out of a possible 100 on the Ashevillevol ethics standard.:)

We might as well get use to the fact that everyone is going to ignore the positives and publish the negatives no matter if they are true or not. But they will not be able to ignore the positives forever. This Fall is when it stops.

paraphrasing, Newsweek said that CLK denies it but that the recruit and the recruit's HS coach confirm it. implication is clearly that CLK is lying.

meanwhile, Newsweek lauds President Obammer.

two good reasons for me to continue my low esteem of Newsweek.

It was cleared up yesterday Kiffin actually said he saw Alshon perhaps getting a graduate degree and would make a fine chemical or petroleum engineer working for one of the companies will oil rigs off the Carolina coast.

Seriously, though, I don't see the big deal if he did say that. I mean, it's not like the rest of the SEC (and country for that matter) don't think that when they hear of SC....LK just has the gonads to say it (allegedly).

I love all of this publicity. When people quit talking about you at all is when you have a problem (like the past several years). Now you hear UT football mentioned almost daily in big publications, articles on sites, papers, TV, etc. Publicity is publicity and people are talking about UT. I'm loving every minute of it too.

Another article to add to CLK's scrap book,,,,, unfortunately only the op and five or six others probably read it. I haven't picked up a newsweek since I was at the Doctors Office years ago.

Newsweek?

Damn.... what's Kiffin have in mind next?

Reader's Digest?...

Chicken soup for the Soul?

National Geographic?

I can see us recruiting Inuit villagers and aborigines next year, if this keeps up. :)

Yeah, National Geographic sounds about right for the next put down article. and for the kiddies, theres always the sports section in Highlights!
I haven't seen a thread with those two magazines in it yet.

Kiffin has manipulated the media like puppets on a string. So much so, the man is in Newsweek.

Blowing my mind here. The man is a born marketer.
