I bet a few dozen, polite, classy requests might get the job done:
Gordon Henderson
Professor--Marching Band, Department Vice Chair
office: (310) 206-1084

Dear Professor Henderson-
I hope this finds you well. Some internet sleuthing tells me that as a department vice chair with responsibility and sway over the UCLA marching band that this letter has hopefully reached the right set of eyes.
As a native Tennessean, naturally, I pull for the Vols. But as a resident Angeleno since 1994, I've also rooted for UCLA, actually holding season tickets for a few years. I've seen my share of Bruins games, done the eight-clap, stood up with every man, woman and child when the man says "not yet...not yet...but now."
Also, as you can imagine, there's mixed feelings for Vols fans over Coach Kiffin's abrupt departure. Anguish has turned to relief and hopefully, it'll turn to joy posthaste.
Not knowing if you were at this year's UCLA-UT game in Knoxville, per university tradition, the University of Tennessee Pride of the Southland Band played "Sons of Westwood" to our guests from Southern California. I don't know if you plan on having a full marching band or a pep band for the SC game, but if your young men and women returned the favor by learning and playing "Rocky Top" during the UCLA game, that would surely gig Kiffin and staff and make the UCLA band the stuff of YouTube legend.
Thank you for your time and thank you for reading this far.
Sincerely,

I believe they will...Prince was a tough and smart QB, and they beat us in our house with Kiffin and Monte...Although Crompton struggling greatly had much to do with that. Nevertheless Prince and company owned the undersized Sullins twins. This is a wonderful idea. Hope you all take it to USC next season... and every other season.

USC will have to adjust yet again to a new system and that will set them back next year...no matter how much talent they have. After Sark and the DC both left last year...and with all the Defensive talent that got drafted, I knew USC wouldn't be the same team. Time proved me right...even though they were rated high early in the season.
It won't be easy, but I can see UCLA. What I can't understand though, is how they can get up for the game with UT and pull the upset, then tail off the rest of the year. If they'd play that way all season, they'd be in the upper tier of the PAC 10. Let's hope they put it together and go into the USC game with some momentum and confidence.
One thing UCLA game can count on...that game will have TV ratings go through the roof.

Yeah, that came to mind, but I can't remember who they played. You remember?

Just because you stay in a "Pro-Style" system doesn't mean jack...it's been a number of years and a few different coordinators since, and we know from experience guys...it sucks changing hands at the Coordinator level, especially if they come from the outside.Thats where you are mistaken...USC will run the same prostyle offense that they are used to.
I'll say it again...
The same LA Times and the same Alum bashed Garret for hiring Pete Carrol..so it's not like their opinions have been validated yet.
And for you guys rooting for UCLA...they are 1-10 against USC within the last 11 years..so I wouldn't get too excited if I were you..
I live in LA. Most USC alums that I know want to get rid of Mike Garrett. While there are some who support Kiffin most of them want to win football games at all cost. Rumor is that Garrett will retire in August.
Most of my USC alum friends wish Kiffin had not been hired. They have their fingers and toes crossed that Kiffin will not ruin USC football for years.
I hope he is not as bad as his rep. At first I thought "how could he be?" The more I read the less I like him.

Did anyone get a reply. From the band director?Dear Professor Henderson-
