It was reported at GatorCountry.com and on the Morning Drive with Brady Ackerman that someone close to the UF program was able to look in on a coaches meeting. Lane Kiffin's quote from his first press conference about singing in the swamp all night long was written in big, bold letters on a board in the middle of the room. They are definitely taking notice. Just thought I'd share...

You know, not that this is likely with a program like Florida......but part of me would just love it if we had Florida so focused on us that they lost 3-4 games next year because of being overly concerned with the UT game and smashing us.

Not that it would ever actually be the cause of why they lost those games, I'm just saying that if you could actually tangibly attribute their losses to lack of preparation for those teams after spending so much motivational fuel pounding Tennessee, it would be almost worth it. :)

CUM is a top-notch coach. I doubt this will have much effect. However, if Kiffin's words cause CUM to want to pounce on us early and causes UF's defense to play aggressively then there is a chance for them to make mistakes. I have no doubt that our team will be more motivated/focused and in better shape than we have seen in years and that gives me some small hope for an upset.

Exactly, I fully agree with you.

Besides, another thing that works against that sort of mystical principle is that we play so early in the year. If they were trying to get players motivated to pound us 56-0 already, it would be more beneficial if we played in the middle or latter portion of the season.

From Act of War (Kiffin keeps a copy in his office)

"Our adversary is of a choleric temper and easily provoked; let us make constant
sallies and break down his walls, then he will grow angry and
come out. Once we can bring his force to battle, it is doomed to
be our prey."

I love it that Kiffin understands this is a no-lose situation. If we lose then it was expected. If we win, then CLK and UT are the talk of college football and he has immediate clout in the SEC. Deep down CUM and UF are scared that might win in the swamp and use them as a stepping stone to get back on top. Losing that game would be the worst possible circumstance for UF other than Tebow having a season-ending injury.

What is Florida gonna do? Beat us worse? Im glad we have a coach and staff that arent gonna take it like Fulmer did. If we get knocked down, we get back up and go for more. We will get better, and we wont quit.

If we win in the Swamp....it makes Kiffin look like a Genius and Makes Meyer and UF over rated....if they win, Kiffin , UT is where everyone thought they should be.

We shouldn't spin this situation that CLK has stoked for us all: we MUST either WIN at Florida this year, or we MUST play them extremely close with plenty of hard hitting, big plays, and a new swagger that gets both Florida's and the rest of the nation's attention. We can't just say, "Oh well, we lost and were supposed to lose, so it's all ok". No.

Well, we're their first meaningful game next season, so I wouldn't totally doubt this story. After you win a NC, the coaching staff must get creative in order to motivate players early for winter and spring workouts.

I think you're right but at the same time we all see what CUM did with Georgia after what CMR did two years ago. CUM is like a little school girl with his vendettas, he wont let go until...we actually he may never let go. CLK is taking UT where it needs to go, we've been stagnate for far too long and hey who knows CUM may be going to hang out with Touchdown Jesus before we know it

Did you mean "Art of War" by Sun Tzu? I think EVERY coach has a copy because of all the pub St. Steve got for reading it...

I'm starting to buy the argument that this has all been a good thing. I read my Sports Illustrated yesterday and it was a VERY positive spin on the impact this young man is making on our football program with the national audience. Who ELSE can claim they have a trio of personalities like Pat Summit, Bruce Pearl, and Lane Kiffin? Answer: No one can. I'll give Mike Hamilton great credit early, because I already know this rancor will translate to a new swagger + WINS on the field.

Putting aside the irrelevant Summit, Florida has two coaches who have won two national championships there.

Pearl and Kiffin?

I was talking more on a personality front. Valid point though. Donovan doesn't get enough credit for his record.
