Can someone in the know explain to me what type of looks CLK gets at our players during this time of year. Are they able to workout on the field or is it strictly weight room type stuff. Thanks in advance.

Most of it is film...

They do get to put them through workouts and drills as well, but not high-impact, full-contact stuff.

From what I hear around here they can't have organized practices with the coaches. But the players can voluntarily work out and run drills as long as there aren't coaches around. Kiffin could look at the tape from last year but he has already said he isn't going to judge the team from last year and its all going to be fresh.

A lot of this time year will be marked. What I mean by that is you may have a lineman that weighs 305 that runs a 5.4. CLK and staff will mark that, and try to get 20 pounds or more off of him to see if they can shed some tenths off the time.

I know that we have some great evaluators of talent on staff. Film will be used, and also workouts will be followed closely.

From personal experience with a D lineman I'd be looking for shoulder level, footwork, and how explosive out of his stance is he? Is he a fast-twitch guy? Etc...

Each position will be evaluated in different ways. Hope some of this helped.

I was at a dinner two years ago and one of the former coaches said they where not allowed to have practices with the players but if they where working out on their own and he just happened to walk by the window and seen it. Then he could possibly relay a message without contact.
