Better question is, who was the big recruit he was on the phone with that they are close to closing with? He said he was going to be on campus this weekend.

Layla made the right decision. I'm sure she's making up for all the lost time in her college days by marrying the head football coach at UT.

i was reading a summary of the interview on DP's website and thats what it said so i was just wondering

I hope that was misquoted or otherwise misunderstood. I really hope he's not out there saying he's got his eyes on the door. That just doesn't make any sense.

Drugs had darkened John Reaves's family life and football - 04.18.83 - SI Vault

Meanwhile, life on the home front had done a 180-degree turn. While at Hazelden, he wrote to Patti, telling her that an all-new John would soon appear in Tampa, ready to be a proper husband to her and a proper father to their two children, Layla, then five, and David, 1½. She was excited but skeptical; when he walked in the door, she was convinced. "He had this big smile on his face," she says, "and his eyes were clear for the first time in 10 years. I waited all that time because the Lord told me to be patient."

It wasn't misquoted or misunderstood, but it's also not a big deal.

Patrick asked him if he'd ever be interested in coaching in the NFL again, and Kiffin said "sure," but he also prefers the college game where you can build your own team by competing on the recruiting trail, rather than waiting for your turn to pick in the draft.

It'd be naive to think that he doesn't have some unfinished business in the League...but he's a long way from getting back...and, in order for him to ever get there, he's going to have to have some big success at UT.

We should all pray he makes it back to the NFL. If so, that means he'll build something pretty special here.

Dan asked him if he would ever like to coach in the NFL again and he said something like "Sure, but I recruiting and in the NFL you have to manage the salary cap and the draft. I like being able to go out there and compete for the players." Again, Im paraphrasing what he said, but hearing him say that didnt make it seem like he was eager to jump ship.

Edit: What Jaytrain said

Think about that for a second...the guy that works with Ed Orgeron everyday is scared of Pat Summit...tells you what kinda curse CPS can be....I just got a visual of CEO and CPS doing coffee and Red Bull shots!!!...

Great interview. Dan Patrick is a really good interviewer. Man Kiff is really working the media. He is a machine. This is going to pay off big time with all the exposure.
