"I'm not going to pull a Mike Gundy but the kid is in college. He's a college kid, he's a great student and I feel bad for him. Make sure you understand, there ain't a guy in the country trying harder than him. That's preparing harder or doing more to try and do things right. He's going to do well for us."

He said from day 1 he's going to defend whoever his QB is from the media. He's doing that.

Not to mention he's a fifth year senior who obviously loves the school and has waited for his turn to play. I feel badly for him and hope he pulls it all together and has a great season the rest of the way.

Hate is too strong a word. People want to see a competent player at the QB position for a change and get emotional.

I wonder if Crompton just had a bad game? i mean come on Peyton Manning has bad games Jay Cutler is a good quarterback and threw 3 Int's the other night im telling you lets trust this kid and just believe in him he has what it takes he just needs to go through with it.

I admire Kiffin for that, but he's not going to come out and tell what he really thinks. He has to show that he has confidence in Crompton, or he could really destroy any kind of confidence Crompton had in himself, if he still has any.

What? He's had his turn to play and stunk. He got his turn again and stunk. People are picking up on the pattern.

I'm trying to figure out what happened between game 1 and game 2 myself.
He looks like a new man game 1, 5 TD's. Then next game 3 interceptions.
Is it QB pressure? The pass coverage? The pressure from the fans?

That's fine but the topic here is the personal crap he's gotten from some of the lunatic fringe so called fans. That's uncalled for. If he can't get the job done put somebody else in at that position and move along. All the name calling and death threats shouldn't be happening.

Game 1 we played against basically a high school football team.

Game 2 we played against a mid level Pac-10 team. If he throws 3 int's against their defense what is he going to do against a Florida defense that is returning all 11 starters? You know their going to stack the box & dare us to throw it, & right now i dont think any of us have any confidence in Crompton making the right decisions & a good throw when he will have to pass it Saturday.

Thats why we let them stack the box then BOOM! screen pass to BB and he takes it to the house then they slack off and we pound the football..... sounds a lot easier said then done but it could happen

Based on quite a few of the posts I've seen on this site, hate is probably a fair word to use. It's unfortunate that some fans can't separate their dissatisfaction with a player's performance from the actual person.

Cromp has as much athletic talent as any QB in the NCAA. He has to do three things IMO to turn the corner:

1. Flush the confidence boogers out of his head.
2. Quit staring down receivers
3. Most importantly...throw the ball with natural aim, rhythm and instinct like he is in his backyard instead of aiming and forcing passes!!

One thing is for sure; if Coach plays him, we have to root for him to do well. If he wins, it will be huge. For us, and especially for him. I'll be hoping for The Vols to win & praying for the young man to win.

After reading that article... maybe I've been a bit strong in my criticism of Crompton. When you're frustrated, you tend to want to exact that frustration on someone or pinpoint the cause of the frustration.

In this case, it may not be as simple as, "Crompton is the problem".

I'll cool the jets and take this weekend's loss like an adult and hopefully we'll win some games down the road. I didn't expect Crompton to make a miraculous turnaround in the off season, but somehow my posts say otherwise.

I need to get back to reality. I don't hate JC. I just don't think we can win with him. Unfortunately, our cupboard is bare. We should realize this and just enjoy the season to the best of our ability.
