Why are some of you so sure Kiffin wants to return to the NFL eventually? I'm not saying he will or won't but he said in his initial press conference " My agent's not gonna like me for saying this, but i'm not going back to the NFL" What are you guy's basing your thoughts on? Just curious.

I remember him saying this at his first PC as well. Also, keep in mind that he has a young family (2 young daughters + 1 son on the way), so I think he would like to stay in one place for a number of years for stability.

Who knows what may happen in the future.

The only problem that I have with it (I am biased also) is that I am so use to stability in the program and all that I see with this staff is if we are lucky 5 yrs. The reason I say that is Coach Kiffin is probably going to use this job to send him back to the NFL, his dad is almost 70 so this is probably his last job unless he gets the NFL itch again and Coach "O" already has been a head coach in college and probably won't play 3rd fiddle long. Most all the others on staff have prior NFL experience also; will they be gone in 2-3 yrs? Don't get me wrong I am fired up with the possibilities and I want to play for championships but this looks like at best a 5 yr plan and then we are looking again...

Maybe CLK learned more from Pete Carroll than just x's and o's. Maybe he saw how much fun it can be building a dynasty and being the head man of it for many years. One can dream.

I am sure Pete Carrol could choose to go to just about any team in the NFL if he wanted to. .

Actually, the 49ers approached him and he turned them down. I think he loves the college game so much.
