I'm aware of the circumstances that prompted it. I just wanted to see when it was acceptable to NOT play with honor, class, and integrity, and I got my answer.

Oh yeah, just for a little fun, seems LK's comments are being taken by some folks as racist. There has been some corespondence with the NAACP, and trust me, dealing with those guys is a PR nightmare.

He showed integrity. He stood up for his players, who had much less talent that the opposition, but for whom played their hearts out.

We have a new coach. Having met Dave Christensen, I know he will uphold the integrity and class of our program just as Joe Glenn had. He brings in a high powered offense which will also improve the on field product.

Yes. But again, what does being a good college HEAD coach have to do with being a good college ASSISTANT coach?

I mean, honestly, Jim Chaney, Ed Orgeron, Monte Kiffin...these are top-notch coaches. The fact that none of them have been college head coaches has no relevance whatsoever as it pertains to their ability as assistant coaches.

Just thought it might be nice to have SOMEONE, who at SOME point in his career ran a college program as a head coach SUCCESSFULLY on staff. Seems with the amount of money you guys threw out there, you could have netted one of those.

Okay, well, your last two coaches have been among the most successful college head coaches in history, and what, pray, has it gotten you?

You could have offered the same advice to Oklahoma in 1999, or USC in 2001, or Georgia in 2000. And you would subsequently look like a fool. I won't prognosticate on whether we will achieve the levels of success those programs have, but I like our chances with our staff.

Oh but you guys are so much more superior than us, is that what I am hearing right? I mean the "best" coach you have is 137 and he has never lead a successful college program. Coach O was a disaster and the head guy was what 5-15 in his last stint.

I cannot blame him, if I were him I would not want my replacement on staff either, usually that does not work good in UT land for the head coach.

i'm not saying we are superior.. just that since your last two 'seasoned' coaches have been unsuccessful maybe that's one of the reasons we went in another direction.
Monte is 69, bowden and joe pa are in their 80's so we could have many many years with Monte.

It's been stated that Coach O is a better recruiter than Head Coach.

Are you really comparing the NFL to the SEC? If so please bring up Spurrier's flop at Washington as well.

Well that is my point, Spurrier HAS lead many successful college football teams and programs for that matter. It is kinda nice to have someone on staff who has, even if you got an assistant who use to run a successful program. Steve Logan former ECU guy would have been a good grab. Someone like that.

I'd much rather have an assistant from an elite program than a guy that coaches a school that's named after a portion of the state.
