Kiffin a national topic this week already

Examples please?

Another Example:

Coaches Hot Seat 2009

And the explanation for CLK being #2 is:

I wrote an email to the site questioning their rankings and this is the response I got.

Thanks for writing to us at Coaches Hot Seat. On the Coaches Hot Seat Rankings, we had Weis at the No. 1 spot before he beat Hawaii in the bowl game and as you can see he is still in the Top 10, but we feel the pressure is a little less than it was before he got that win over what we both would agree was a mediocre Hawaii team. As for Lane Kiffin, I have a very good friend that works for the Oakland Raiders and I went to several practices and was on the sidelines for games when Kiffin was coaching the Raiders and it is my opinion that Lane Kiffin is not qualified to be the head coach at a large high school, forget a school like Tennessee in the SEC. I have seen Kiffin up close in practice at Oakland, and when he was at USC and if you and I were sitting down for a cup of coffee I would tell you some stories that would send you into full body shock, and most of the stories would be around the fact that Kiffin is one of the most immature people I have ever run across in the coaching game. I also know a couple of Oakland Raiders and they have regaled me a bunch of other stories and it would be very easy for Coaches Hot Seat to post these stories, all of which I saw myself or were told to me by Raider players, and those stories would do damage to Kiffin's career. I don't think it would be right to post those stories though, but by Kiffin's own very stupid and immature actions since he arrived at Tennessee have landed him on the No. 2 Hot Seat, we moved him up again after his last two transgressions, and we think there is about a 25 percent chance that Kiffin will never coach a game at Tennessee, especially if he keeps running his mouth in asinine ways.

As for Tennessee, we love coming to games at Neyland Stadium (All of live in the San Francisco Bay area) and nothing can touch the passion of SEC football. Several of us went to Stanford and Cal, and even as passionate as we are about football here on the West coast, it will never rival the great fun we have come to SEC stadiums.

Go Vols! What is it? "Oh, Rocky Top will always be Home Sweet Home to me, Good 'Ole Rocky Top, Rocky Top Tennessee!"

Damn, that's some scary stuff. Wonder if its true. Never actually coach a game for UT? That is hard to believe.

LG, you are smart enough to see that e-mail response was total BS. If that guy had a shred of proof, he would have posted all over the web.

He would take his 15 minutes of fame and be all over ESPN, etc.. He would be plugging his site with every appearance and raising his rates on his advertisers.

I don't know. I was for CBD originally but then came around to CLK late. Now I am starting to get a little nervous with his antics. I wish that MH would pull the plug and go after Gruden. I think that we would be better off if that happened.

Kiffin has an enormous payout ($6m+, maybe?) if we sack him early. It would cost another $4m a year to get Gruden. ESPN money or not, the AD can't just throw that around while the university is broke and laying people off. It's not going to happen.

Just keep reminding yourself that ultimately, Kiffin's antics don't matter -- except to Kiffin himself. If we win, he'll be the darling of Sportscenter. If we lose, he'll get fired -- but that would have happened anyway. All Kiffin has managed to do with all this is A) probably shave a year off his grace period to get it done, and B) put his entire coaching career on the line here. If he mouths off like this and then can't get it done at UT, then who's going to hire him next?

None of this crap matters once we start playing games.

3L, 5150 and ksusha don't care about the money side of it. Their sensibilities are offended and he needs to go yesterday.

Well, I guess that it is easy to make those statements when it's not my money. ha.

I agree. UT will be his last stand given his actions. It has been interesting around here.

Edit: is the buyout really that large?

A fair assessment of my previous posts. I do find his actions offensive. IMO, most of the public statements he made were needless and any gains achieved could have been attained by other, less harmful, means.

I think they are back on soon enough. And in the end the Gator SOS is not what will drive the outcome of the UT-Florida game so I wouldn't worry about that too much if I was you.

LG - no worries, just don't be too embarassed about playing such a soft schedule. It is clear Foley and Meyer are padding here. I mean come on - Charleston Southern and Troy? I can see FIU since the school needs to help another Florida school out or may be even made to play FIU by the Board of Regents. I can't see where even Gator fans can enjoy paying to see this.

If the shoe was on the other foot, I know I wouldn't enjoy seeing Tennessee play any of those teams.
