I think it shows that we're not near where we want to be, not only winning, but as a result, in recruiting. Time will tell, but Dooley will get us there.

Keep the faith, volnation. Keep the faith.

Oh, God. It's gameday man. If you can't be excited today, you have problems. This belongs in the football forum, which I really, really don't like.

it fluctuates. pull alabama's recruiting page from that year and it will look like ours now. you can't dominate in this league forever, but we will see the glory days again.

The pick of the crop....kind of puts a propective on SABEN coaching...when you have 5* replacing 5* in talent...the things you can do with that....but UT needs to coach the kids up....bu I really think we are getting it done...time will tell

Not too worried about CDD's recruiting ability. Looks like he will break into the top 10 this year. He has some 5 stars on the hook, but we all know some of those kids have the kiss of death-Bryce, Janzen Da'Prichk. Wasn't Tiny a 5 star?

4*
Actually, I don't worry about anything RE tn football or anything else but the fam. But, I am excited about how a couple of wins WILL get us results in the recruiting. I think Dooley's doing an admirable job with recruiting.

Holy hell dude! It is the first game of the season and you're bringing up past recruiting classes that have ZERO to do with this current roster?!?! Wow!

I am trying not to peel the skin off my face awaiting this game tonight. So, yes, i am bringing up anything to keep my sanity for the next 9 hours or so.

Blatantly accurate 5* kicker rating. 2004 UF was like watching Michael Jordan intentional miss the tying free throw so he could get the rebound and then end the game.

Was that what you were thinking about him when he missed the XP? :p

Wilhoit was the #1 Kicker but he was only a 4-star. You can still look up the 2002 class in the Rivals archives. That class was loaded overall though.

3. James Wilhoit- Best kicker in last decade in Knoxville
4. Mapu- Showed promise 1 season but after Mormon mission was never the same
5. Mondre Dickerson- BUST kicked off team with rape charge
6. Gibril Wilson- Great Safety who made it to NFL
7.James Banks- I don't have to say anything
8. Haralson- Great DE that made it to NFL
9. Jason Allen- One of the best Safety's to ever wear Orange

10.

See what happens when you recruit at such a high level like Tennessee did in the 90's and early 2000's? The "busts" dont effect the program at all. It only becomes magnified when your roster is depleted and you have to count on every single one of them panning out. That is what happened with the 2007 class. It was good but they recruited so poorly the years before and after that class that they needed everyone to pan out and realistically that never happens.

I can name about 10 5-stars they landed in the 90's who were "busts" but it didn't affect the program at all.

This really wasn't supposed to be a debate about *'s. But, since it's come up, it's a crap shoot.
There. That's about all we need to say.

I was sitting in a chow hall in northwest Iraq. When he missed the extra point attempt, got up and walked back to my trailer pissed off. one of my Soldiers knocked on my door about 20 minutes later. I yelled for him to get the *$^% away from my room and to stay away. He kept knocking and I kept yelling :finger3: . Finally he got the idea I was not going to open the door so he yelled UT had won the game. I did not believe him until about three other guys said the same thing. So I took the 500 meter walk back to the computer tent :compute: to check the score on the internet. Lo and behold, they were telling the truth.
