Kicking it w/ Lane Kiffin Part 1

I think its strange how he says he isn't ready for the season to start...like he doesn't think they are ready for it. kinda scary....

He’s been pleasantly surprised by senior quarterback Jonathan Crompton’s play, especially after hearing what he supposedly could and couldn’t do. Kiffin said Crompton has been on a par with most of the quarterbacks he coached at Southern California and wouldn’t be shocked to see Crompton get drafted if he stays healthy and performs this season the way he has during preseason camp.

Whoa...

I hope this prediction comes true...but I'm doubtful to say the least....

OMG, did you all see Kiffin say he thinks Crompton could play in the NFL!?!?!?!?!

I think you are looking to far into it. I think Kiffin will always say he is never ready for a game until game time. That's how his mindset has always been. There is always work they can be doing to prepare for the game, all the way up until game time.

I wonder how much of that opinion on Crompton is due to his ability to be a "practice all-american". It seems to me we heard this last year and it was a different story when the game whistle blew.

I did like the quote about always coaching to the max all game long. I really think this staff (once they have some experience together) will be able to make great ingame adjustments and fix mistakes during the game not the next week in practice!:good!:

Let's hope he is right about JC. As for "ready but not ready" I think that is natural feeling of a perfectionist. When it absolutely, positively has to be right you always want to check and recheck what you have done and question if it has been enough. I am not worried about CLK work ethic and dedication.
GO VOLS!:good!:

I don't think this staff is going to come right out and say "We are 100% ready for this season/game." I feel like this staff will never stop trying to improve and get better. This is what they love to do. It is more than a job for them, it is a passion. Of course this is good for the Vols and can only benefit the team. I think the players can feed off of the coach's energy and hopefully translate energy into wins on the field. IMO.

Crompton is going to be a great QB this year. I have no worries or doubts. He will be this year's Jevon Snead.

The quarterbacks had crappy coaching last year. Don't you remember Clawson? :ermm:

Look, this is a new year, new staff, new team. I am giving all our guys a chance. With the right coaching this team can be very good.

Go Vols!!

Yeah, I think Crompton is set up for a good year too. But NFL?? Who would have thunk that??

I think Kiffin gives a great interview and talks the talk very well. I am pretty confident that performance will back up the words, but I'm definitely ready to see the product on the field.
