It's a sad sign of the current state of our program that I keep hearing how our kicking game had a good night and/or is showing signs of improvement.

We hit FGs of 32 and 21 yards, one of them in garbage time, and made one extra point. And that is improvement.

I don't really recall a time in UT football history when having the correct number of players on the field, kicking chip-shots and making extra points were considered improvements. The line has been moved, for sure.:ermm:

We shouldn't have even kicked that second field goal. That was utterly ridiculous. I and a few Bammers I talked to after the game thought it was almost comical (but at the same time not funny at all). Down by 30 something and you kick a field goal while at the 4 yard line???????

I heard some people joking at one point that palardy was player of the game. I never in my life would have thought I would hear "palardy" and "player of the game" in the same sentence...even if it was a joke.

Someone brought up an interesting point earlier. The last two bama contests, we lost by 31 points (this being the 3rd time). Dooley just wanted to be able to say "at least we're not getting worse". If that's true, then it's utterly selfish/childish/pathetic/etc.

Your point is well-taken, but you are neglecting to mention the touchbacks Palardy achieved as well as his 48.2 yards/punt avg. I know, I know. But give credit where credit is due. Palardy did have a nice game tonight, and he does look tremendously improved from where he has come from.

Palardy had a very solid game. Almost 50 yds/punt; 2 inside the 20; and perfect on FG/XP's. Let a good game be a good game and he had one. It was a bright spot in an awful evening.

I thought when we kicked the last field goal, that the coaches (and I use that term loosely) wanted to let Palardy keep his confidence up considering where he's been lately. He had a very nice game tonight pulling double duty. We should probably drop Darr's scholy and open it up for someone else next year.

Palardy had a really good game. It was good to see a punt come booming out of there for a change. Solid on his field goals, looked like the kicker we recruited, if for only one night.

I understand your opinion, but really don't think it is a good idea to drop scholarships based upon lack of talent. When HS kids commit to UT, they assume that a 4 year ride is a given, provided they obey team rules. If we started kicking players off scholarship for not being good enough to start, other schools could use this against us in recruiting wars.

Palardy had a 57 yard punt. Two of his kicks were almost to the back of the end zone.

Where has that been?

Looks like riding the bench helped Palardy's kicking game. Imagine that! What a unique concept. Wonder if it would work for other positions?
