come on guys i'll make sure his balls stay warm and accurate. what more could a gal like me do to help him???? welcome to tennessee mr. lincoln..let the guys keep the stats and the girls hold the balls!!!!!

All of a sudden, this thread got WAAYY more interesting.

:eek:lol:

Kidding aside, I'd love to see this guy kicking, if only for the fake potential. He's got that Janikowski mystique without being a fat obnoxious drunk.

Lincoln is certainly a hoss....I think I read that he kicked a 70 yard FG in front of Meyer and still didn't get a serious look. Also, he has the size and experience to be a GREAT safety valve in case an ellusive return man gets by our always air tight coverage.

Yeah because Meyer certainly proved this year that he knows a lot about kickers.

heard dude was shanking them in the spring last year from fourty yards. Word is he is just terrible. Colquitt is going to be the place kicker next year, maybe we can find a walk-on somewhere.

I don't think you can blame Florida's kicking woes on Meyer. That guy was a senior that had been solid for years. Not to mention Urban didn't even sign him.

Sure we can blame it on Meyer. Under Meyer's tutelage, the kid actually got dramatically worse.

It's my understanding that kickers are pretty much the least coached players on the team. They do their own thing more so than others. Besides, he improved enough to be perfect in the NC game.

Doesn't Meyer pride himself on coaching the special teams.

Perhaps, but I doubt he gets into kicking technique. Regardless, it seems like folks around here are really reaching for ways to discredit Meyer. The facts are that he is undefeated against Florida's major rivals and he won the SEC and NC in his second year on the job. That's about as impressive as it gets. I could care less about what his kicker did as his team was winning games.

The Vols only recruited one kicker and did not land him. Soooooo who will be doing the kicking next year?

Wasn't the rumor last spring was that the freshmen kicker UT recruited was struggling? I'm pretty sure that's true because Colquitt was listed as the backup kicker.

Considering the number of big games lost by teams because of their kicker ie Florida 98, FSU wide right, etc. This is a concern.

This got me curious and I looked at who we had and saw this kid Daniel Lincoln from Florida who apparently started at LB and Safety as well as lettered in weightlifting, sounds like an interesting kicker

apparently he could have used a lot more practice at placekicker instead of safety and LB based on the spring he had last year :banghead2:

the fact Meyer didn't offer isn't giving me a warm and fuzzy.

Lincoln is looking like a bust from last year's thin class.

Yeah... because his kickers have been wonderful! Just remember that the Lincoln kid will get about 1-10,000 kicks in between now and next season. Good god, I could probably end up kicking with that amount of practice. Remember, it's just February.
