I have seen no less than 3 threads where someone has referenced "word from practice is Khalil is getting winded after a few snaps."

Can one of our guys on the inside speak to this? Is this true, or just more expert opinion from VolNation? Personally, I find it hard to believe after being evaluated extensively by recruiters, this sort of thing would've been overlooked.

Any thoughts from those in the know?

You have to remember he didnt play any live competition football his entire senior season and he has been out around 10 days from camp. Going to take a little bit of time to get conditioned to the level he is expected to.

The whole situation is not that big of a deal. It is all about weight and the pace of play in college football. He has already lost a lot of weight and will get to where he needs to be very soon. Just be patient.

I get that. I'm aware he didn't play last year, and he's been in green in practice. I'm not in a rush - just curious if the reports of "winded after 3 snaps" is just conjecture.

I would expect McKenzie to be better conditioned by the Georgia game. Until he's better conditioned expect him to come into the game at certain times in the game.

I'm honestly surprised that VN is not panicking about KM. Since last July, VN has been polluted with threads and posts about KM's immediate impact. It's hard to expect a freshman to make an immediate impact in the SEC. It's especially hard to do so as a lineman. I'm not worried at all about KM. His minor setback in fall camp was unforeseen, but by the time we get heavy into our SEC play, he will have his opportunities to have an impact.

bUTch didn't recruit a "Big Mac" expecting to get a "Cinnabon"

Toughen up, get in shape, and get on the field.

Seems hard to believe he's still having conditioning issues 6 weeks after fall camp started, even if he did absolutely nothing leading up to camp to get himself into some sort of decent shape, which is unheard of nowadays.

At any rate, he's enough of a force that he can be a difference maker even if it's a few snaps here and there.

Hopefully we'll see him for some goal line/3rd down and short run situations the next 2 games. Him and O'Brian should be able to clog up the middle.

Between rape allegations, ACT scores and injuries, we're all panicked out. Go to da store and git your own. :cool2:

I'm pretty sure Butch mentioned in his press conference today that Kahlil is the lightest he's ever been and feels the best he's ever felt.

We need him this week to play, if we wont to win against Oklahoma get in to shape in the game let him play him self in to shape we just cant keep losing starters every week due to injury or team rules and expect to have a 8 or 9 win season, just week 2 and look at the starters that we have lost sense the Iowa game half the ,Defense that took the field against Iowa is no longer there, what has TENNESSEE done to the FOOTBALL GODS to deserve this and the fans are the ones that are paying the price when you think we are about to turn the corner these spoiled BRATS ffffffffffffffffffffffffff it up for the team and the FANS.

Khalil Mckenzie isn't ready? So all those posts about him tanking offenses and starting as a true freshman were wrong? You don't say..
