Keys to the USCe game

1) POUND the rock
2) No turnovers (of course)
3) No deep passes
4) Contain Garcia

I don't think their run game will be much of a threat which will force them to go the air. This is where the game will be won or lost. We can't give up any deep balls, and can't let garcia run for the yellow line on 3rd and long.
I think as long as we pound the rock, keep the ball, and keep the game on their half, we'll be playing mop up duty by the start of the 4th.

(also, lincoln please make your field goals)

Hey everyone, USC fan new to the boards. I can see there is a lot of smack going on between both sides already...way to show class Carolina fans by coming over to the 'enemies' homeland and talking smack. Anyway I'm more of a realistic USC fan, as you will probably tell over time. So, glad to be here, and hopefully we can have some intelligent conversation between us. :)

I agree with these factors. I'm sure everyone watched the Alabama game, and saw how Garcia seemed to be shook up the whole time, couldn't ever get calmed down. Therefore he was playing terrible. If y'all get on him early then we are in for a world of hurt.

As for the running game, I tend to agree as well. Although Kenny Miles has shown promise in his few starts, that is all they are, a few starts. Consistency is key, and frankly our O-line is too inconsistent to continue to help develop any of our RB's into great rushers, just yet.

I will brag though about our WR's. They are young but are starting to make big plays more and more and no need to talk about Alshon, everyone knows how great he has been playing. It will be interesting to see all of our young, tall talent against y'alls quick, hard hitting secondary.

My biggest concern is Garcia scrambling for time and making a play. With the exception of Alabama, all of our losses have come because we were unable to get to the QB and have allowed some heartbreaking conversions on third down.

I like this up to a point. We may need to loosen up their D some with a few long pass routes.....not many though. We need to tire their defense out so we can continue the fourth quarter dominance. They do have a very good defense, especially Norwood, and can give us problems.

I may be biased but I believe the reason Georgia's offense is "struggling" and Bama's offense is "struggling" is because our defense is playing so well and making offenses look terrible. Monte/talent = shut down D.

Gamecocks08 you are correct about your receivers, they have stepped up. They wont catch us off guard either, our staff knows about them and Garcia. We will have a gameplan set up to slow them down.

I can see it being a close game if we have a hangover from last week, or just dont show up mentally. But i have faith in this staff and players to not let that happen. We will be sharp on O and D. You guys had better bring your A game or it will be a long night for the Evil Visor and your boys.

I don't agree with you there, Bama only has 2 offensive td's in the last three games. Their offense is only doing anything because of ingram, you stop him and they don't have much, the only td they scored against SC was because of ingram. Our defense has played the best against bama, but their offense is not brilliant. When they were 3rd and 2 from the 3 or 4 yard line, I thought for sure they would get a TD and keep running as they had been pretty much that series, but instead they throw an incomplete pass. That was their biggest mistake of the game imo. Our defense is wonderful and keeps us in games, but I would not say bama's offense is good when our defense isn't playing them.

Carolina's run defense has given up some yards so we are definitely going to pound the ball. That will open up the field on play action. Their pass defense is pretty good so we need to get Crompton in rhythm early. If he plays the way he has the last few weeks, and our receivers are making plays, we have a chance to put up some good numbers on a pretty good ball club. Their running game has struggled a bit this year with the exception of the Miles kid. We need to hold him up and put pressure and sack Garcia. If we can rattle him and bottle up the run we will be in position for a 2td win. GO VOLS!!

4. Keep Garcia in the middle of the field.
5. Take your chances in the punt game... bring it early and often.

You can bet we'll be coming after Garcia all night long, unless you are able to establish some sort of run game.

Conversely, we will be keeping our fingers crossed that Crompton continues his recent trend of playing well.

Should be a fun game and an electric environment.

Use the composite of the offenses for UGA and Bama. Stay balanced on O. JC needs to throw for over 60% and around 300 yds again. USC will oddly enough probably be trying to stop the run first.

Spy Garcia and hit him often.

Give Jeffrey nothing easy.

Good observations. I haven't watched much of SC this year. Against Alabama it seemed like they schemed to take Julio Jones away from them, and then couldn't stop Ingram when they went to the run, especially the Wildcat. If CLK takes a similar tact, then a steady diet of Hardesty & Brown should loosen them up. He may decide to do something different, though, and he has shown himself to be pretty creative.

Bottom line - I think our D has a better chance of shutting down their O than the other way around.
