Does anyone know if they have retired that we gonna whoop Georgia thread? Or does it still show up on game week?

Honestly it won’t come down to fooling Georgia schematically. Kirby is kind of a good defensive coach. It’ll come down to winning 75% of the one on ones and a little luck. Let’s face it, we are getting more talented each year but not to their level yet but it’s coming.

If we get blown out, that’ll be devastating. If we make a lot of mental mistakes, that’ll be super disappointing. If we lose close, very encouraging. This game is very winnable for Tennessee. I just think we come up a tad short on some stupid mistakes and their talent and depth gets us in the 4th. I hope I’m wrong. What do some of you think our issues or advantages will be?
  1. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.
  2. Play for and make the breaks. When one comes your way—SCORE.
  3. If at first the game—or the breaks—go against you, don’t let up . . . put on more steam.
  4. Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game.
  5. Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle for this is the WINNING EDGE.
  6. Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.
  7. Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.

If our interior offensive line can block their defensive tackles and middle linebacker, then we can win. Of course turnovers and penalties will be huge. Explosive plays, meaning several for us, and a minimal amount (none) for them.

Don't allow their offense to get started at all. Keep them on defense.Every play 100% as always.Pedal on the floor.Stick on the gas pedal(Georgia overdrive)!

The game is winnable, but by no means do I expect it.

Being in Neyland is one of the biggest reasons.

I just don’t want to get myself too hyped up about it as the disappointment is very real and I’m having knee replacement the day before so I’ll be in enough pain already without disappointment being included.
Praying fir you, that is a painful surgery.

Pretty simple....running game. Like the older Florida / Tennessee games. Whoever has more success on the ground wins the game. Both defenses are very talented. Georgia has a lot more depth.
We outrushed them in their place last year. Bobo has schooled Banks as much as anything. Beck had played bad up until our game last year, and then looked like a Heisman winner.

If we sit back in our zone on 3rd (our goto) expect Stockton to get comfortable and have a field day.

I’m afraid Georgia will shut our offense down press our receivers and force and bait Joey into mistakes. And unfortunately i don’t think our defense will be able to contain the edge against them either that’s my big concern. Stockton is a mobile QB and he can get the ball down field despite what some people are saying on here. He played well enough in relief of Beck in the SEC title game to beat Texas and he actually played pretty good in the ND playoff loss. We have some injuries as well which is not what you want. We do have the Neyland effect but remember Kirby has never lost in Neyland since he became HC at Georgia in 2016. Unfortunately i don’t see us winning this saturday hope im wrong though.

Our strength on defense is rush defense and Georgia’s strength on offense, so far anyway, is their running game. That’s to our advantage which means they will try to dink and dunk us down the field I think. I think our OL has a good chance in this game and Joey will need to take off at times to keep them honest. Special teams with Boo could be an opportunity?
I disagree with our rush defense being our strength this year. Our secondary is elite, but Syracuse was running on us really effectively. I am actually most worried about our ability to stop the run in this game.

Load the box and make Stockton beat you. On offense Joey has to run some to keep the defense honest.

-dump it where they vacate when they send 5-6
-qb has to use his legs to extend drives
-RBs need to have 10 catches at least
-take deep shots when they give us a man with no safety help matchup

Yeah, but I don't think Bobo is the problem. It's the talent he has to work with. It's just not the same level that Georgia is accustomed to having. Pretty clear watching the first two games.
That was the direct opinion of Georgia fans. They're done with him. Again.
The on-field talent is usually the key in a football game. Don't be fooled by UGA playing nobodies. They will bring everything that they have up here.

I know we try and come out strong in our run game, but I would love to see a perfectly executed fake handoff hit'em in stride down the side for a touchdown opening play. Would love to see GA start on their heals.

Kirby loves playing in Neyland
2017. 41-0
2019 43-14
2021 41-17
2023. 38–10

We must change all this on Saturday at the very least keep it within a touchdown going into the 4th. It will be very discouraging if it’s another blowout cause i think we have closed the gap between them a little bit. I also don’t think this Georgia team is as elite and talented as the previous teams.
There are no elite SEC teams anymore. Transfer portal and NIL have leveled that off. This is the most talented roster Heupel has had since he took over. Time to flip the script on this one.

I hope to see a more aggressive defense than what we saw against Georgia last year. I think Banks pooped the bed last year, when it was evident Beck was a different QB when he got pressure, that we chose to play very vanilla on D and let Beck be comfortable.

Georgia plays old school SEC football. Not flashy on offense, very strong defense and very physical and athletic. We have to match their physical and athletic intensity and minimize mistakes that lead to turnovers or big losses on offense…or big gains on defense.

The crowd has to impact Stockton. That happens and this will make UGA low scoring. This is the first tough start of Stockton's career. This is the first hostile environment he has ever stepped foot in
Neyland is and will be awesome.

But over the last 20yrs many players and teams that have never stepped foot in that hostile environment have left with a W.

Fans need to be fanatical. But the team needs to play smart and limit turnovers and penalties for the true crowd effect to be felt. We’ve all felt the air leave that stadium after a bad turnover or penalty by the Vols.
