Keys to beating the Gators

We will not win unless we stop the run and win the turnover margin.

Florida will play Gen. Neyland football. We will see the maxims played out by both teams. I fear Florida has the advantage with their defense and kicking game. They could beat us with only field goals.

Shoop should be slobbering all over himself about this qb and how to ruin his day. Our key is if Dobbs can have a better day than yesterday. It is really disappointing that his eye to hand coordination is not better when he has a guy wide open and he can't float a ball to an area like he had yesterday. O-line needs Chance Hall and the next man up mentality is critical from here on out with the defensive injuries piling up!

GO VOLS!!!

Our defense has been very underwhelming so far under Shoop. We have very few sacks and INTs. Our total defensive numbers are exteremely poor and our rushing D is very bad.

Against bad teams.... We'll see what happens when we play a team with a pulse.

Florida won't throw much and neither will we. Key is going to be in stopping the run. It's been a theme in this series. Whoever we have playing CB and NB better be ready for the out route to Calloway. I just don't think they trust Appleby enough to take too many shots down field.

I am not sure if:loco: this has been mentioned or not but why not? This kid is fast and super athletic; we have some depth at WR so why not use him for what he was recruited to do by everyone else?

Hello Vol Nation, I'm a long time lurker here, and Gator fan so feel free to light me up. I can take it. I just want to share my thoughts on the game and get some insight from behind enemy lines.

1) The injuries in this game almost ruin it. Especially for the Vols. Your offense (like ours) has looked putrid so far. This is going to be a 17-10 type game and your D is key. It's a shame you guys are so banged up on all 3 levels of the defense. Everyone will be talking about DelRio's injury, but the real story is the mess of injuries to your D

2) While so far the Gators have played the little sisters of the poor, the YMCA rec league, and the North Texas Fightin' Boogers (Mean Green), our defense has the best stats in the county. The D line is nasty, LB's are making their plays, and the secondary is strong as ever (including every Vol's favorite player, Jalen Tabor).

3) I think the key to this game will be the crowd. Applebey could get rattled pretty easily. This is his first game as a Gator, and it's not the best environment to get acclimated. If the Vols can rattle him early and the crowd make it difficult on him, the Orange and Blue are in for a loooooong day. However, if the Gators can move the ball and Dobbs can't run and is passing as normal, Neyland will turn quiet and angry quickly. The Vols will be the more emotional team, which cuts both ways.

All in all, this game is going to be Ugly. We're talking Bama homecoming date ugly. Not a bunch of offense, lots of sacks by both teams and probably some good old fashion extracurricular activities after most plays.

One think that will be great is seeing Hurd run off tackle and squaring up with Tabor. I like Tabor on the field, off he is a turd. I wouldn't mind him getting his bell rung (as long as he makes the tackle.)

Want any insight on the Gators, feel free to ask. I'll do my best.

Vols and Gators unite for a Dawg Free SEC championship game.

Run Dobbs, Run!!

Keys to the game for me. How many times can Dobbs make amazing plays out OL breakdowns vs. our mistakes (fumbles, int., sacks, etc...) on offense. This game will be won or lost on turnovers and big plays. I don't see many sustained drives. Both offenses will need help in short fields and defensive breakdowns. I expect at least one defensive touchdown, and multiple turnovers by both teams. Obvious right? But still key to the game IMO.

1. Hurd cannot run anywhere but between the tackles.

2. Hurd and Kamara must have a 50/50 split in carries.

3. Dobbs must set the tone by running at least 20% of the time on runs. Especially on the first running play.

4. The O line need to be men possessed. Dobbs will need at least a 3 count on every pass play. If your blocking and there's no one engaging you, it means they're behind you already. Turn around an help your QB.

5. Receivers must hold their blocks on these screens.

6. Dobbs must throw the ball out of bounds by a 3 count or tuck and run.

7. Any RB who dances in the backfield before hitting the hole rides the bench for the rest of the quarter.

8. There should be about a 60/40 run/pass split. If they are able to key in on the RB, we lose.

9. On D, make the FL QB feel contact on every play.

10. Don't give up the big pass plays.

your turn.

If Calloway is a no go then I think the game comes down to Foreman/Gaulden vs Powell in the slot. I think we see UF doing multiple things just to get him the ball.

You are going to see a lot of quick out/screen passes, like Powell to the slot. I don't think Coach Mac will trust Applebey to make reads or decisions. Most of the passing plays will be designed to get the ball to one receiver only.

Also expect to see alot of running plays. We have 4 good RBs, and we use them all throughout the game.

Field position and special teams will be key in this game as they always are in the Florida game.

Bad problem is now everybody knows who Berry is and just kicks away from him. Now Sutton is gone. Big time losses. I hope Daniel has a big time game. And hopefully Medley is ready to rock.
