Rashaan Gaulden was spectacular against Isiah McKenzie last week. Yes he made a poor decision on that final drive trying to knock the ball down rather than wrapping up and tackling The Human Joystick. But other than for that mistake I thought he was outstanding against a guy who is as dangerous as it gets in the slot.

This week he gets an even tougher matchup. We all know how great a player Christian Kirk. He might be the best slot receiver in all of college football. Gaulden should have his hands full. I can't wait for this matchup. I think it'll be critical in deciding who wins the game.

I like Rashaan. He's quietly been AMAZING as the nickel this season. A great game against Kirk this weekend and Rashaan will make a name for himself with NFL scouts.

Excellent post OP. Well balanced and relevant.
Gaulden was my fav recruit from the mega class. He has "quietly" made a large impact on our season thus far.
Losing him in 15' made a big negative impact on the season. Definitely could see us winning OU and UF had he been in the secondary. Especially, until Foreman got solid later in the year.

For every long touchdown we give up, we're that much closer to losing imo. We need to make teams drive the field to beat us. Georgia hurt us with two long passes. Other than that we win down there with no DobbNail Boot needed. We won't shut out the Aggies, but we need to slow them down. They can't get 21 first half points if we want to win down there. And if they do score early and often I say we have to open up the passing game earlier than we usually do. We certainly need to keep pace on the scoreboard with our next two opponents. No falling behind three scores these next two weeks.

Go home fair weather fan. Everything you declare is garbage and the opposite of the truth

Key Matchup is their D line and our O line. Their offense has playmakers at every position. Quit thinking you have some special talent for picking out key matchups or secret stars.

Because you don't. You're just a fair weather emotional fan who can't handle a full game of college football and the emotions that come with it.

In his defense, I've not been able to handle a full game of Tennessee Vols college football this year and the emotions that come with it. I swear I've had to close my eyes and force myself to take deep breaths each game so I don't have a heart attack! I just hope that we don't lay an egg in either half next 2 weeks. If we get beat by a more talented team so be it, but let's quit playing just one half.

However, if we come back and win after only playing one half of ball then just give me the heart attack and win baby!

Good pass rush can make any receiver look avg. and any DB look better than he is. Any QB needs to be rushed hard and often. GO GET HIM.

Bingo! Winning football is all about winning the individual one on one match ups. a&m is scary at the skill positions.

Kirk is averaging 6.5 catches per game but only averaging 8.2 ypc. This is down 4 ypc from last season. I have not watched a lot of TAMU games this years but the stats seem to bear out that quick passes are thrown to him and he has been stopped for nominal gains. It won't be easy but I think if Gaulden can keep Kirk in front of him then Trevor Knight will have to find another option to produce chunk plays for them.

It seems like teams are keying in on Kirk. He's not getting the room initially like he got last year. Its opening up other players (Josh Reynolds, Trayveon Williams, Knight running the ball).

If I'm TN, I'm focused on stopping the run and making Trevor Knight pass the ball. He is decent at it sometimes, and has a nice deep ball. He's very, very similar to Dobbs in that respect. He's run and passed for a few more yards than Dobbs. I think he's around 300-325 yards per game in total offense.

There's no guarantee that Gaulden will be taking Kirk one on one though D4H. It could be Foreman or Moseley or even Martin if he's off the craplist of Butch yet.

I'm sure he will be on him a little but he's not going to follow Kirk around wherever he lines up buddy.

That's not the way CBJ coaches. Baylen Buchanan could end up on him more than Gaulden to be honest if Martin is still in the doghouse. Thanks!

I agree with your statement that Kirk is not getting the space to maneuver. His first down conversion rate on catches has decreased 24% from last year.
