I love bringing back an Alumnus... we want the tradition back then bringing back a former player and coach from UT is a great idea... not only that he is a great coach and has a very healthy resume'

Just heard on the radio here in SC that Steele wa the lead recruiter in South Florida. This could be huge for our coming claes.

Glad to bring a Tenn guy back to Tenn and his recruiting will be huge. But I wasn't overly impressed with the job he did at Clemson. Not very consistent. Struggled with some very mediocre offenses (UVA, Maryland, So Carolina) and couldn't stop Ga Tech twice. And Clemson had the best defensive athletes in the ACC (aside from VT). Most of the Clemson folks aren't upset about losing him. Hope he steps it up at UT.

Remind me of why he left Bama to go to Clemson? Was it just a big pay hike, because that seems like a step down.

Hubbs just stated that Swinney is making a last ditch effort to keep Steele, and he will wait till tomorrow to make the decision.

Has this hire been confirmed by the University yet? I notices Volquest no longer had the article on the homepage and didn't seen any confirmation on the utsports site or espn. I hope nothing fell through!

I can't believe he wouldn't come here. The reports down here are that the deal UT offered him was 750-800k per year for 3 years and at CU he makes 375k per year.

Well hopefully Steele will head this way, I don't think Clemson can match the money that Tennessee is going to pay. I am sure Steele is getting 600 or 700 thousand to head this way.
