I attended Clemson for grad school a few years ago and maintain regular contact with my roomates who are both from and still live in Pickens Co. One was and is in an administrative role for the football team under both Bowden and Dabo and the other is from a long line of Clemson season ticket holders who have an idea of what's going on just cause of the "smallness" of Clemson (school and town).

Steele is rumored to have suffered a minor stroke before the game (unsure of timing) and was apparently out of it the entire game. Its believed he will be retiring within the month for health reasons. They said you can't help but be skeptical of that kind of news but there's no doubting their source. If it is true, I have no doubts these guys would know about it and they say there are no rumors in that area that he has been fired. Me asking was news to them.

I hope this isn't true for KS's sake. Once you've had a stroke the chances of another one and it being worse are almost inevitable. My best friends father died after his 3rd one.

With all the guessing one question hasn't been asked to narrow down the search. What is the base defense going to be next year? With the type of D-line we are seem to be going after it looks like a movement to the base 3-4. Also, look at the linebackers we have taken last year and looking at this year. Typical built inside backers for 3-4 scheme.

I hope it is not true either....His post game interview was solid...I don't know enough to know....and have no information or reason to believe differently.....I have known people that have had minor strokes and not realize it and this may be the case...Best of luck and will pray for a recovery.....If true it explains why his move as rumored came into play like it did....Clemson would keep him onboard to maintain benefits and support him until retirement.....This will be an interesting story to follow...

I talked with a guy from the area earlier this morning also who is a Clemson supporter, and he had heard nothing of Steele being let go. He should retire and take care of himself.

Yikes - this would explain a lot.

If true he does need to take care of himself and UT likely isn't the place for him right now.

Is there really something called a "mild stroke"? And if someone did suffer a stroke do you honestly believe he would be coaching defense on tv after having said stroke?

I suffered a mild stroke back in 2005...Had to change a lot of things in my lifestyle...Stopped smoking and TRY to eat better...It can be rough but you can live a normal healthy life after a stroke...You do not have to live in fear of another one happening..An aspirin regiment helps.

Yes there are mini strokes.....and yes they are not catchable....by the person or the ones with them...
So it is possible....His postgame interview was good...very well done....I do believe it could have occured like it was stated....
