An average defensive coordinator being offered and turning down $800,000. Did anyone watch Clemson play Miami, South Carolina and Georgia Tech last year? His defense gave up thirty or more points four times last year in a weak conference. Surely, this was a push by Hamilton to bring back some connection to the past to appease some of the "Old Guard" boosters.

Let Dooley hire a young guy or wait until the NFL coaching merry-go-round is over, and hire a pro guy. I think Coach Dooley and the current staff can hold together most of the recruiting class and pick up a few bodies to fill out the class. No rush to fill the DC spot.

Wow...negavol to the end...held Kentucky to 13. So Monte got stomped by VT and Ole Miss...does Monte suck? Both first year on job and first year recruiting.

Check out my thread on Karl Dunbar. He currently coaches D line for the vikings and has ties to Dooley when he was at LSU.

Here's pretty much the deal. If we hire a coach, he's awesome at coaching, recruiting, good person etc.. If someone turns down our offer, they suck at all those things.

Hey Doc,
Take a couple of weeks off from VN. If not for your sake, do it for ours, please.

How can that be? He has never run his own D.
You are amazing.
T Town, what have I ever done to you? Don't shoot the messenger. I just think Kevin Steele is an average defensive coach, no better than Ellis Johnson, John Chavis or Reggie Herring. I don't mind hiring him, but not for almost a million dollars. You have a right to disagree.

Has anybody noticed Alabama's defense improved dramatically after Steele left for Clemson? Why on earth would we pursue him instead of Kirby Smart?

Why does it matter now?
You edited yours after I posted.

Smart turned down $800K from UGA. He will not even listen to us.

give the guy a chance...people are so negative if its not a big name hire or someone that they had their heart set on. I think this coaching staff is going to turn alot of heads...in the right direction
