Kevin Steele for LB Coach?

Steele is the logical choice. He has coached, LBers, DBs, and DEs.

Steele us a better teaching coach than LT and a better recruiter than LT.

but steele does that have whole "mental" thing going on.

First off, that is a rumor. I am sure the staff would have it checked out before he is hired. Second off, if it is true then to me it appears that a lot of his problems boiled down to the pressure. As a position coach he will be dealing with a lot less pressure then he was as a Defensive coordinator.

Has that been confirmed or just another internet rumor?

i have no idea if it has been confirmed, at this point all I HAVE READ, is that is a internet rumor. but still i would take him in a heartbeat, but i would imagine sal has someone else in mind. jmo.

He's already expressed interest in coming back to Tennessee to coach either the D-Line or LB's, and is also a top notch recruiter. Would be a definite upgrade from Thompson.

Thompson did some good things here and im glad we had him for as long as we did, but Steele definitely has the advantage over him in terms of recruiting. Its very possible this hire is made imo.
I'm kind of with you on this. Wont be at all disappointed if it happens. I don't much care for crybabies. If he didn't get an interview for the DC position, that speaks more to his qualifications for the job. Or lack thereof.

I don't think the guy will get the type of big time D coordinator job he wants this year, what are the chances we bring him in to replace CLT?

I would love the hire.

There were some reports out of Clemson that he may retire due to health issues. TIFWIW

i would say none at all, its like asking a former middle manager to go back to the shop floor. Most probably believe's he is worth more than a downgrade at this point. It would be intresting to see what his status is like in like March/April if no job offer comes his way?

He's been a HC before, but was a DC. I think it could happen simply because he knows he won't get another big time DC job anytime soon, so if he can hitch his wagon to a team on the rise and it could help a lot with self promotion.

Rumor also had it that Green from Navy wanted to step down from his DC position for a job less time consuming due to health reasons. Perhaps he would be a nice fit to replace Thompson and Sal can coach LB's
