His brother was shot and killed while trying to break up a fight.

He died in Walnut Creek, California. Prolly no link unless you know the newspaper name out there. His dad posts on another board. He explained the number change a few months back. Kev was really close with his brother but couldn't get the #2 jersey until this year.

Kevin has been through so much, with his brother and injuries. I let him wear any number he wants.

Kevin Simon is one of my favorite Vol players of all time. With all he's been through he could have easily quit football, and honestly who could really blame him for it. He's never been in trouble, and works hard everyday. If the younger players want someone to look up to as an example of how to work they only need to look at Kevin Simon.
