Kesling Has To Go: Online Petition??

All you need to do is youtube John Ward describing the magical, matchless moment when Tennessee runs through the T signaling it's FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE versus Kesling sounding embarassed to say the phrase and only says it on the opening kickoff.

McBray...seriously????

Although I loved Randy Smith's call of the Montana WR who did a header into the brick wall and then Randy saying I think he hurt his ankle.

I have heard a whole lot worse than Bob Kessling, I mean a lot worse. Frankly I think he does a pretty good job. I also like Tim Priest, he is an excellent and knowledgable color man.

One loss in 99. Loss to Lsu kept us out of the national title game in 01. Yeah we sucked. 98 was the only undefeated season in like 4 decades when it happened. When was the glory days of UT football?

the glory days will start for us on here when you go back into frozen hibernation...you are no Vol fan...you just a simple pimple...

FIRST: There should be NO John Ward references in this thread. Has nothing to do with this AT ALL.

Kesling has to go. Tennessee has a proud tradition and should have the best available calling their games. Kesling is a bumbling fool. Spends more time trying to correct his blunders than just relaying the play.

1. He can't get our starting QB's name right. He will likely be mentioned on 95% of Tenn's offensive plays this year. The play by play announcer should have his name correct. There is NO such player as Tyler McBray.

2. The Option pitch that Montana fumbled was CLEARLY recovered by Tennessee. No Question. Kesling announced it as "Montana recovered" and then continued on with a poor attempt of THEN explaining the play that resulted in a fumble. Call the freaking play as it happens and then realize who has the ball.

3. Spending more time trying to figure out the formation and who is in the game instead of calling the play does not help the listener. The "when in doubt, just make up a name" process does not work.

4. "Into the Cheggerboards" is lame. One of the worst "calls" in college sports. I'd almost rather hear a variation of the "hobnail boot" call each time Tenn scores.

5. The only "supporters" he has that call in are back woods rednecks who barely have an essence of proper english pronunciation. "I s'port ya Bob an love hearin ya call da plays erry Saturdee. Go Big Errunjj an I'll hangup en lissen"

Kesling needs to go. Would an online petition carry any weight?

nothing wrong with Kessling!

I will sign the petition multiple times. Nothing personal....Kesling needs to go. It's painful to listen to him at times.

First you misspelled his name

Second - Yes, there is.

Bob has been has his current job for 12 years.
If anyone of us with a halfway competent boss went even 1-2 years with the amount of screw ups bob has at his, we'd be out of a job.

No he isn't

He's beyond freaking atrocious at basketball!!! Waaaay worse at basketball than football!!!!

Mike Keith could be good, but he tries too hard. His fake enthusiasm is irritating.
Not a BK fan but he does a good job with baseball. He used to do the Smokies games and on occassion does some SEC work. If he has one I think thats his niche.

Probably so, since there is only @ 12 minutes of "action" during a 9 inning baseball game, he has plenty of time to let you know what's going on.

I enjoyed my weekend on the lake so I listened to the game. Bob is a terrible radio announcer. He doesn't describe to the game so while listening your imagination takes you there.

I watched the replay after I got home, and Bob is a likewise terrible TV announcer as well. There were several times he had no idea who was in the game. For example, he goes into a long story about Tom Smith and how he is running the ball, he's a good story, should develop into a good runner, yadda yadda. Only problem - it was Rajon Neal in the game.

Never heard him do baseball but I could see why, the pace of the game is similar to the pace of his intellect, very short spurts of activity followed by long pauses.

He's no John Ward? Heck, the Natural Gas lady would be an improvement over Bob Kesling!

Not to mention, Bill Anderson: "uuh...I don't know, John....looked like he's in thar to me...I didn't see it."

The great John Ward needed no color commentator at all, and proved it when calling basketball games.

NO

Because of where it came from and the demographic that exists in this forum

You have got to be kidding. I am sure there is worse out there, but nothing remotely close to "a lot worse". Care to state who you feel is A LOT WORSE? Tim Priest actually fits the current standard of our play by play calling. If we got a better announce, perhaps one at least "middle of the pack", the color commentating would improve by association.

Your post should have said this:

I have never heard anyone worse than Bob Kesling. Frankly I wish I was deaf when I hear him call a game. My imagination of the how the game is playing out would likely be more accurate and on time than Bob's actual description. I like Tim Priest, but he is not an excellent and knowledgable color man.

I was against the guy but listened to him the second segment of the Derek Dooley Show and decided I probably would have been critical of any hire after John Ward. That said, I think he has dodged the John Ward Era and is here to stay, after a rocky start.

Cut Priest some slack, after all he came over on the Mayflower.....or looks like he did.
