Always good to see our guys getting a shot at the next level. Congrats to Kyler.

On Monday, as the Bucs returned to the practice field to prepare for its next contest, the team signed rookie offensive lineman Kyler Kerbyson, previously of the New England Patriots. To make room on the 90-man roster, the Buccaneers waived/injured rookie tackle Kelby Johnson.

The 6-4, 305-pound Kerbyson originally signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in July, just before the start of training camp. He was waived by New England a week ago. Prior to joining the patriots, Kerbyson took part in rookie mini-camps with the Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints on a tryout basis.

So someone tell me when they start cutting the roster down until they eventually get to the 45 limit.

July 30: 6:45 PM ET first practice of training camp
August 30: 4 PM ET deadline for teams to reduce their rosters to 75 players.
September 3: 4 PM ET deadline for teams to reduce their rosters to 53 players.
September 4: Players released the day prior can be claimed on waivers until 12 PM ET. Once Noon hits, those players are free agents and practice squads can start being formed.
October 16: After week 6 and before week 11, players on PUP can start practicing with the team, but have to be activated within 21 days of returning to practice.
November 1: The NFL's trade deadline expires at 4 PM ET

Sounds like he's getting a lot of NFL camp experience. Hope it will help him catch-on finally and make a roster.

Big difference between active roster and practice player.. Can't see him making active roster but maybe practice squad.. It would be 100k for a season... Which is significantly better that all of his other peers who recently just graduated with him

Met a former UK running back who was stocking shelves at Publix... Nice guy... Had a pic of himself running over a Gator DB on his mobile.

Per week that you are on the practice squad.. It is a position however that has a lot of change.. All 8 usually do not stay the entire season and bad players are signed and released a lot more due to the low amount of money involved

Also the 6,300 a week is the minimum. Teams sign higher salaries all the time to practice squad players

Yeah but prices are not too bad and you get to see your favorite visiting team win ! I was at the titans game when Winston and Mariotta both completed their first NFL TD to a TN Titan!

Ahh the memories.


I just don't understand how the Bucs can be so bad at community engagement and the Lightning be so good.

Alas, he surely has little chance of making a roster. He's already been with three teams, and New England did not keep him more than a few days. Not good signs.
