Kentucky, Vandy, and Ole Miss rank higher than UT in rushing

So hard to believe how far we've fallen.

What's hard to believe for me is that rushing has been a problem pretty much since the 2002 season.

2004 and 2009 we could run the ball decently and other than that we have had trouble running it, especially against UF.

Absolutely galls me to say it but Boy Wonder's one year here was the best we had run the ball in almost a decade and that was with 2 walk-ons starting on the OL.

We've thrown for 600 more yards than those teams. Guys I hate to break it to you, but it's pretty rare in college football to lead the league in passing and rushing. We're not gonna throw for 300 and run for 300. There are only a finite number of plays per game. Here are some more positive stats: we're 2nd in First Downs per game (25), first in 3rd down conversion rate at 57%, and averaging 34 minutes TOP.

You will not win in the SEC if you can't run the ball. At least we won't compete for and championships. I hope the coaches can address this over the next couple of years...

I'm so sick of people seeing the glass half empty. Either cheer the Vols on or choose another! I understand they are facts but with one "the sky is falling" comment another is soon to follow.

Passing...

We've scored 10td's with 2int's.

vandy 4td's with 3int's.
ky 4td's with 4int's.
ole miss 2td's with 5 ints.

We've scored just as many passing td's as all three combined with 10 fewer int's.

i've tried talking about this fact on here, and nobody will listen, no, you will not win in the sec if you can't run the football. i' m not talking about running it 30 times a game(south carolina), but you have to keep the defense honest, and run to establish the pass. the test will be in 2 weeks against a fairly good front 7 of georgia. we have to run for at least 150 yds to beat ga !!

We can use the passing game to open up the run. Football is evolving towards a passing oriented game. Especially pro, and college will follow suit just as it always has. look at the dominate teams in the NFL, all of them have a great passing attack. If you can throw the ball, then throw it. Do what fits your team the best and throwing fits us best. This isn't 1980 any more, you can win throwing the ball. Don't get so out of shape because a more talented Florida team beat us in the swamp when we were down one of our best players. Let's all be optimistic and have faith for a change.

The glass is actually 3/4 empty. The rest of the country thinks we're crap - if we beat UGA the story will be Richt's faliure, after we lose to Bama and LSU, there will be no story because that's what everyone expects. We will not get any love (if that's important to you) until we beat both SC and Arkansas. Get used to it homers

Interesting position, which I would tend to agree with. Decided to "follow the money".

NFL Salaries - No Two Football Positions Rank Equal

2010 NFL Salaries by Position
1. Quarterback $1,970,982
2. Defensive End $1,583,784
3. Offensive Line $1,267,402
4. Defensive Tackle $1,223,925
5. Cornerback $1,193,666
6. Linebacker $1,175,788
7. Wide Receiveer $1,054,437
8. Running Back $957,360
9. Safety $947,847
10. Punter/Kicker $868,005
11. Tight End $863,414

Seems to match up, as 4 of the top 5 (ex DT) are part of the passing game IMHO. The suprising one to me is that the WR's are so low. I wouldn't have thought of them as the "cheap" players.

Go Figure.

Minor detail, but we were more than decent in 2004. I believe Houston and Riggs each went for 1,000+.
