Kentucky makes hire (confirmed)

from ESPN:

UPDATE: It only took a matter of hours since the last update to this section, but Kentucky appears ready to name its next head coach.

"OFFICIAL: (Kentucky Sports Radio) can confirm Mark Stoops will be named Kentucky football coach this afternoon," Matt Jones reported.

The question at this juncture is what type of offense Florida State's former defensive coordinator will run at Kentucky. Florida State ran a pro style scheme, but Kentucky may prefer for him to rely on his family ties and implement an up-tempo spread attack much like his brother Bob does at Oklahoma.

---

UPDATE: Kentucky is in line to become the first program with a vacancy to name its head coach.

"From multiple conversations, I believe the top two choices for UK job are (San Jose State head coach) Mike MacIntyre and ( Florida State defensive coordinator) Mark Stoops. Decision very soon," Matt Jones of KentuckySportsRadio.com tweeted.

Stoops reportedly interviewed last week, while MacIntyre said he hasn't had any contact with Kentucky. If that's the case, then it may be an indication of which way the program is leaning.

I have a question on this, joker Phillips was just let go last week. How can they publicly announce a new coach without the 14 day rule if we can't do the same?

Actually you can, considering I did

Just saying, that's 90% of what's wrong around here. Without some sort of evidence, you're simply throwing out hearsay and bs rumors.

While you're correct in this case, it opens a floodgate for any random idiot to start threads like "Bellichick hired at Tennessee, presser at noon (confirmed)"

I wasn't trying to attack you. I just get annoyed when people claim things to be true without at least some burden of proof.

Again, that's a state by state rule and may differ in Tennessee. Or they may have gotten a waiver. The legal niceties on that are too complex to draw any conclusions about what Tennessee could or could not do based on what other schools do.

IIRC, Mark didn't do too well as the HC at Arizona. I will not consider him a threat until evidence that he is improved is shown to me.
