It’s like this place when we lose to Bama. You know, sure Kentucky has no true point guard with Lowe hurt and they are looking non-competitive against a team they were predicted by many to beat on the road, but I don't think I've ever seen Rupp's Rafters more positive. Those guys are certain Pope is the right guy. They are saying they probably don't even need elite players to win tiles. That's just how good Mark Pope is. It's about his devout Mormon faith. (please don't be bigot) And heck, nobody else who does have a backup point guard also spent 22 million dollars on their roster.
Nah, they ain't saying nun of that right now.
"Burn it all down! Fire everybody!"
It looks rough so far.. Post season is all that matters in the end..My Volunteer friends... methinks this will round into form! May take some time with the injuries and whatnot... but they will get there. Now, have they looked Final Four good so far? Not at all... but it's a LONG season. At least that's what I have been telling myself since the Louisville game! ha
Kentucky appears to be what they are. They are not talented. Even with a healthy Lowe they aren't that good.Kentucky needs to start winning some of these nonconference matchups. Losing may hurt Tennessee’s seeding on the NCAA tournament. Kentucky is an embarrassment to the SEC in its basketball and football. Maybe they need to think about getting in the AAC or something.
Pope seems like a completely different person compared to last season. Why make up a story about a pre-game incident before Louisville only to now claim what actually happened was the team being “too amped up” in their pre-game meeting? Maybe he figures it out this year, but he’s had some weird interviews and press conferences early in the season and I’m starting to think the job might be too big for him.
Everything came so easy to them in Year 1 and he has not handled adversity well.
He also has every possible resource under the sun to build the best possible roster. Literally zero excuses to not have a functional roster apart of he picked poor collection of personalities it seems like. Sometimes having the most money leads to 2020s Dodgers. Other times it's the 2020s Yankees.I have to sort of agree. UK fans want him to be the answer so badly because he is "one of them", and as you said, he has kinda become a victim of his own success that came pretty easily last year. Safe to say, the honeymoon is over and this kind of material won't help. Hard to cover this as anything more than a fabrication. He doesn't really have good answers and the "aww, shucks" persona that many originally liked, now see as being dippy and impulsive.
