“I really don’t know (if I want to come back for a sixth season), to tell you honestly,” he added. “I think after the season I’ll have a better picture of what I should do.”

He's gone if he can get in the league
I could see him in the XFL if he doesn't get in the NFL

The XFL isn’t going to be a feeder league for the NFL and non skill players aren’t going to get paid nearly enough to make a career out of it. XFL will fold after a year or two

Why can't these kids who let's say won't be going to college for the reason of education go to a league like the xfl and sharpen their skills?

The simple answer is funding. Everything from coaching to facilities to nutritionist to strength and conditioning will be much better at P5 colleges than XFL teams. Throw in relationships that exist between college coaches and NFL front offices and it’s clear the best path to the NFL is through NCAA colleges. XFL will be a league full of players that couldn’t take the step to the NFL and guys that burned out after a couple years in the NFL

I agree at first. But given time if this league is to succeed long term these are items that would be addressed? No?

Interesting, he is really starting to bloom these last few games.

However, if he stays for year 6, he could run off the backup center(s).
I'm sure Mays is very good, but The last thing we need is atrue freshman at Center.

He's a really good Baseball Coach.
Good. I did not know what happened to him. I believe Colquitt’s dad died a short time after the NCAA denial which was another blow to
The family. I was very sad to hear of both events. Maybe someone can confirm some of this because I’m not 100% sure if my memory is correct about the events that year. It was Manning’s first year at UT. The turn of events had some influence on the careers of Manning, Todd Helton and of course Shuler’s decision to go pro also had a bearing on Colquitt starting that year if my memory serves me right. Interesting story, they should do a 30/30 segment on it.

Never mind, I was thinking of Alan Cockrell

Jerry Colquitt was an assistant coach for Cutcliffe at Ole Miss and then with the Seahawks in the early 2,000s.
