Kelly's 2nd int vs OK

Fundamental football says secure the ball first. That is the main goal. All of those sure interceptions that you see DBs drop is because they aren't looking the ball in and trying to find their running lane before the ball is secure. Kelly did what he was supposed to do; catch the ball.

DBs are supposed to defend against the pass and get pressure when it's their assignment. Interceptions are a 'plus' play and usually on the individual back's skill set when they are made. Why is this so hard for people to understand?

You started a thread for this? To disparage one of our players who just made an interception--his second of the game? This is a candidate for worst thread of all time.

Yep. And he could have scored. If he would have stayed on his feet that is a pick 6. Not single reason why we lost....just noticed he kinda just fell on it like it wad a fumble. Ball hit him in hands. I forgive your dislike

McNeil would have returned that for a TD. He's probably not the only one. TK is the sweetheart of this coaching staff and news photographers He's had his picture in more photos already than Peyton Manning did all 4 years put together. It is something that it is very hard not to notice.

There are about 20 high school DBs across this state that, if on the field at that time, would have returned it for 6 and perhaps would have been in position to return the first one for 6 as well.

This coaching staff is in love with that player. That is the bottom line.

I like him too. Helluva player ... and he's had his picture in more photos than Peyton Manning did all 4 years put together? No.

I don't know what you've been watching, but TK has more interceptions in less snaps than anyone else on the field.

The throw was low and going away from him. He laid himself out to make the catch! I honestly don't know what some of you all expect from some of these players.

It's really funny how many view the same replay and come up with opposing comments. But, that's VN. Good job by Kelly.

What I watched is the video clip on this thread. What I expect in D1 SEC play is an athletic play like I see other team's players make.

You mean like TK's INT vs Vandy last year?
Yes. That's right. When it is basically thrown right to you though, like the in this thread, teams that end up in the top 10 final poll, they have guys that stay on their feet and run those back for 6.

That is just a fact. Sorry if it makes you upset.

I'm not upset. Just seems like we're not watching the same player.

The point that others have made several times is that it wasn't thrown right to him. But what the hell, focus on the int that set us up with great field position instead of the pathetic offensive series that followed if you want.

Momma

You are awfully bitter--what's the real story behind your dislike for him and the coaching staff?

Well, he is a ball magnet, so he's got that going for him. Usually coaches like defenders that can cause turnovers.

Looked like a good pick to me. I'd rather he make sure he catch the ball than try to make too much happen and miss the INT.

I'm this and the OP. Many many defensive players drop balls that hit them right in the hands. I think the mentality of defending is primary and then boom there's the ball for the taking. It requires a "finesse" to catch it usually.

I'm glad TK has been tremendous at catching INTs. Maybe he totally locked in on the catch and didn't worry about running first. Do both well and that would have sealed that game. Add it to the long list that would have.
