100%. I think/hope KJH knew what to expect when she took the job. She just wants to coach, work with young people, and do things the right way. Good on her.

I just don’t think winning much is in the equation.

Kellie has always been a competitor, it’s not “just” Coaching for her, it’s about winning, it always has been. I understand your doubts of Missouri becoming a top contender in SEC women’s basketball, but I believe you may be underestimating Kellie’s drive to win. Starting again in a new school is obviously tough, but with support from her AD, which I believe she has, I believe Kellie may surprise a few here, and be very successful, and yes, make Missouri a top contender in the SEC. I agree. I don’t think she will reach the levels of success that I believe this program will reach BUT I do think she will be very successful for the program at Missouri. If she gets Missouri to where she had Tennessee as her ceiling(perennial sweet 16 contender) that is major success for that program.

At least she has an AD with low expectations. He was talking about mainly finishing in the top half of the SEC and getting to an occasional NCAA Tourney. If ever there was the perfect SEC location where there is patience she has found it.

Yeah they’re so apathetic I’m still shocked they moved on from Robin. Wouldn’t have been surprised if they just rolled on and let her coach there 30 years.

I don’t consider setting a goal short term of finishing in the top half of the league and being a usual NCAA tournament team is being apathetic. Apathetic is firing a coach and hiring from the bargain basement like Auburn or Arkansas did. Having no expectations, effectively. Missouri hired someone who has been to the sweet 16 at multiple different stops. They are trying.

I’ll need to be proven otherwise Kellie is a big step up over Robin though. Robin is actually a pretty dang good coach. Nobody ever really liked to play MIZZOU, and when she did have the talent off and on, they were a tough out. When the Cunningham sisters were there they were not fun to play.

Her primary issues were never being able to consistently recruit top talent and keep top talent in state. And an inability to close out and win close games. Common problems with a talent deficit.

Kellie will have a similar, or worse, pool of talent to work with and recruiting was her death knell at UT. Really think their roster looks cooked this season. Curious to see what she does with it in the SEC.

She already LOOKS less stressed. Hopefully the inside matches the outside. Obviously she'll have stress in her first year in a new program, but... yeah. Nothing the Mizzou job could throw at her could ever be as stressful as coaching the Lady Vols had to be. She physically looks like she's perpetually on vacation these days because, in comparison to UT, it may truly feel like one. Bless her.

We've been talking about two separate things here. Her first year prospects are not good at all. The roster is ok, but one that will have to be maximized and then some to be above .500.

Going forward, her ability to field a top-half of the league program that typically plays in March beyond year one are a different story. She built winners at WCU and Missouri State and rebuilt Tennessee from a program that was falling apart into a 2/3/4th in the conference/Sweet 16 ceiling program. Obviously, that's not good enough for Tennessee's history. But that's a world that Missouri has flirted with before. She got NIL and revenue sharing guarantees for her roster to take the job. So I look at it like this. She has more financial resources for her roster than Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, and Texas A&M. She's on par with Ole Miss, Mississippi State and probably Vanderbilt. Obviously, she's going to be far behind the resources of Tennessee, Texas, South Carolina and Kentucky. But she has shown the ability to pretty consistently beat the teams that she's on par with or better than and then play close but ultimately consistently lose to teams that are more talented or have more resources. If she can continue to outrecruit the programs she has more resources than, she'll be fine there long-term.
