Exactly. I have no idea if the person complaining about Holly's recruiting ever watched those teams. She had enough talent to compete with anyone. But the defense and fundamentals on those teams got to be so bad...I hope Pat was not able to watch those games and comprehend what she was seeing. Holly just did a complete 180 from Pat's style and basically rolled the ball out and told her players "go get 'em."

There's something to be said for not overcoaching, but Holly didn't really coach at all. A good coach can teach in practice, and in the games, knows when to coach and when to just sit back and not mess it up. I think Kellie is OK as an in-game coach, but I'm not sure she knows how to build a roster or recruit with people like Staley or Mulkey. We will see, I guess.

This I cannot agree with, though. It was Fulmer who fired Holly with a .720 winning percentage, because even though she was getting the LVs into the tournament every year, she had let the program slip into mediocrity. And this wasn't a mistake. His mistake was not simply hiring the best coach available, rather than the best VFL he could get. If Kellie doesn't deliver, Danny White will get the best coach who will take UT's money.

In todays NIL, TicTok Facebook Instagram and on and on world........ Recruiting of young "skulls of mush" is tuff. Especially if you are going to be TUFF when they get there.
I dont know if Coach Prime can coach or not...............today at this point doesnt matter. It has brought the program back to life and time will tell.
In todays world of NIL, TicTok, Instagram, Twitter.........et. all you have to be able to talk the talk to get top recruits to be interested.
I would take a chance..................Get Candace Parker interested in taking the position and bring Kara Lawson in as an assistant. That would be my dream team.

I thought that was Sam Williams' role? She's the one who is creating the LV presence on the appropriate social media channels to engage with potential recruits. She's getting them to come on campus and to list the LVs as finalists, so the question is what's going wrong during the handoff to Kellie that's causing prospects to go elsewhere?

Maybe just me, I dont think the conversation would be the same that a Candace Parker would have.
Lets be honest, CPS didnt recruit well at the end of her career.
Who knows anymore. Football players sign based on Uniforms. This year UT had as much interest in what the uniform was as who was playing the game. Its a crazy world for us ol'timers..
5 Star Football players go to schools and coaches that put players in the NFL.
Diff world for women.....the money is not as great, good and better than it used to be.....

I feel very sorry for Kellie. She is unable to bring the LVs to the level that they can compete with the elite teams like UConn, LSU, Stanford and SC. A decision about her future will have to be made next year. I expected a blowout loss but this is a travesty. The UT AD will have to decide next year whether to allow the Lady Vols to go the way of Louisana Tech or hire the best available head coach, man or woman.

unfortunately this may be true.

I maintain the Harper package deal is a problem and if she wants to really be serious she needs to do it on her own. I just despise the husband wife combo thing. It’s common now but I’ll never approve. It’s a waste of one staff member.

I'm old & been a Lady Vol fan since before they won their first National Championship. kudos to them finding back, but that 1st Quarter is where we are as a program when it comes to the playing the elite programs now.it started once we all realized that Pat was sick...There are still only about 5 programs that are always in the running to win a Championship & we can get back there, no probem..We have the the facilities, the support of the Administration, & the fan base to do just that..Despite our mediocrity since Pat's illness, most schools would die to have the attendance we have have on most nights...Please AD White, follow LSU & go get you a proven coach, & BACK PAT, by getting her program back to where it belongs..She built the entire ladies game as we know it now, & leave this bad experiment of hiring people just because they played for her...Win or lose this game, we need to move in a total different direction from last 2 hires

I stongly disagree fall2hb86. I am very critical of Kellie. However, if the LVs win this game. I will eat a ton of crow and say that Kellie is just a step behind her mentor Pat Summitt.

I don’t watch every game but follow the results and read the stats. The Lady Vol program hasn’t been the same for over ten yrs. Idk if it’s the lack of talent or coaching but this team looks out of synch and makes way too many turnovers.

UConn with their full roster beats us by 30-40 points. I’m not excited for Baton Rouge at all.

I don't even follow the girls team like I used to because it's been nothing but a pathetic showing anymore, but I will watch everytime it's on TV or a big game.

Would yall who follow closely say Kelly is on the hot seat? I really hope so and I hate saying that because she's a good person but this is embarrassing
