Keep Pruitt he is learning and making changes: offense

I don’t think it would ever be as bad as Dooley and Butch in terms of the media relationship. Pruitt has been very aggressive with media since day 1 as he clearly hates doing media obligations. I’m not naive to think there wouldn’t be any issues to come out if Pruitt is indeed fired, but I don’t think the number and magnitude of the ones to come out would be anything close to Butch and Dooley

Well, well, well.....

Looks like you are going to start hearing about the train wreck that Pruitt is behind the scenes - of a very large magnitude and very serious nature which will rival Dooley and Jones.

But I am just a negavol right?

I don’t think a coach or two possibly paying a player or two and gettinfired for it is that big of a deal in terms of the “media blowback”.....

Remember the Butch stories of a player falling on a helmet? Remember a locker room scuffle for “whistleblowing.”

I’m fine if we move on from Pruitt. However if it’s paying players that gets him fired (aka Cause), that is nothing worse than stories that came out after Dooley and Butch got fired

The point is not firing Pruitt which is inevitable. It is rather, the 3 ring sh$$ show that Pruitt is behind the scenes, and that stuff is going to come out from all many different sources and will rival Dooley and Jones stories, which you were rejecting. That is the point.

In the last three games, Tennessee has seen its passing game take the next step. The Vols have passed for 240-plus yards in three straight games, marking the first time they have done that since the 2012 season – 381 at South Carolina, 530 vs. Troy, 432 vs. Missouri. It's also the first time that UT has passed for 240-plus yards in three straight SEC games since 2009 – 259 vs. Auburn, 310 vs. Georgia, 265 at Alabama. Tennessee threw for 242 yards at Auburn on Nov. 21, 240 yards vs. No. 6 Florida on Dec. 5 and 328 yards in a win at Vanderbilt on Dec. 12.

True freshman Harrison Bailey and sophomore J.T. Shrout each threw a pair of touchdowns in the win at Vanderbilt on Dec. 12. It was the first time the Vols threw four or more touchdowns in a game since tallying four against No. 20 Florida on Sept. 24, 2016. In the last two games combined, Tennessee has thrown for six touchdowns and only one interception. The six TD passes is tied for the SEC lead with Alabama in the month of December. In the two December games, UT is 48-of-69 for 568 yards and a completion percentage of 69.6, which ranks third in the SEC behind Texas A&M (78.3) and Alabama (75.8).

Against No. 6 Florida on Dec. 5, Tennessee orchestrated three scoring drives of over 94 yards. It was the first time since at least 2003 that the Vols had three scoring drives of 90+ yards in a game. In a loss at No. 21 Auburn on Nov. 21, the Vols tallied 28 first downs, representing the most in the Jeremy Pruitt era. It was also the most first downs in a game by UT since recording 29 against Kentucky on Nov. 12, 2016. Tennessee has put up over 400 yards of total offense in two of its last three games, including a Pruitt-era-high 540 at Vanderbilt and 464 at No. 21 Auburn on Nov. 21.
If you just look, you will see that we're starting to show some identity. Pruitt is learning, he will get there.
Pruitt is a joke!!!! Now he is being investigated!!! Fire him!!!!

Yeah. Come be the new coach at UT. We've got a fresh batch of recruiting violations for you to deal with along with top recruits running for the hills. We can't pay you alot either....but come aboard....as long as you have squeaky clean past and you aren't "weird" like that Leach guy. We're an elite program with a rich history. C'mon.....please??? I'm sorry. That's a terribly negative post and I shouldn't be piling on..but dang it they made me this way.

Pruitt called the plays today on offense. LOL. Worst coach since before Bill Battle.

JG entered the portal!

Offense sucks, defense sucks, and now he can’t cheat correctly. Remind me again why he needs more time?

Yea he’s learning alright, he is learning how to get on probation and and put Tennessee on restrictions. He is no under investigation by the NCAA and the School Compliance office. It’s one thing for the NCAA to investigate for so called claims. But when your own school is investigating you there is something there.

Offense sucks, defense sucks, and now he can’t cheat correctly. Remind me again why he needs more time?

I’m fine with moving on with Pruitt. The very recent “announcement” of potential breaking of recruiting rules means an “at cause” firing of Pruitt can be entertained.

Let the process play out. If Pruitt can’t be fired with Cause, I don’t see any environment where he gets canned with unanimous support while we fork over money to hire an established winner. I can see an environment where we fire Pruitt with his buyout and go off and hire some G5 coach on a cheap salary. Also known as the Tennessee way

I appreciate your optimism, especially with the sea of negativity. I truly do hope Pruitt turns the corner next year. And I believe he has to do it next year. Given many struggles to this point, I'm not optimistic. But maybe a full off season and a complete schedule next year will do the trick.
He is not going to be here.

Man u know that W/L record is skewed. Year 1 doesn't count. He inherited the worse roster in school history, with a late start on the job, and still won more games then the previous year with Botch's players. He is basically 11-11 right now at the halfway point of a 5yr rebuild. Yal wont even let his 1st class become seniors before u want to fire him. Progression doesn't always take an upward trajectory. Sometimes their are high's and low's on your way to the peak.
Not even close to the worst roster ever...

TN isn't the place to come and learn, not at the salary we are paying him! A place like Ark. State is where coaches need to go to learn the job.

Dead man walking...He hasn't learned anything since he's been here...He sucks...He sucks more than Dooley...That's some major suckage to live up to...He's gone within the week.

Keep Pruitt

He is only 16-19.......with 16 double digit losses.

3rd year......his team is NOT getting better. The only team they have beaten since the second game is Vandy.......they had like 48 scholarship players.......and haven’t won a game.

Pruitt STILL hasn’t made a QB decision.......he is incapable of being a good head coach. Too stubborn while also being reluctant to make a decision.......once You finally realize.....you HAVE to.

U on one now. Wasnt that the 1st year ever that we didnt get a player drafted?? We looked like a freaking JV team his 1st year. Half the team was returning from injury. We had like 7 guys in the trenches that weighed 300lbs. We returned a 3-8 roster that went winless in the SEC for the 1st time ever the previous year. If u add in the transfers and a last minute recruiting class, that was the worse roster ever.

Irrational - It was Pruitt's decision to play JG for the better part of three seasons and didn't bring in a QB who could play. The facts are everywhere you just refuse to acknowledge them. Many of Pruitt's players can't even get on the field - guess that is Jones fault to. Pruitt is 0 and 9 against Fla, GA and Bama - he said in his opening pressser those are the games that he will be judged by!

In year three here is where Pruitt is:

TN Offense - Ranked 117th in 3rd down conversions.

TN Offense - Ranked 94th in total offense.

TN Defense - Ranked 59th in total defense.

Winning % - Ranked 87th.

Scoring Offense - Ranked 104th.

Scoring Defense - Ranked 68th.

Pruitt Overall Record - 16 and 18; definite regression in wins and losses this season.

Pruitt is the worst Tennessee Football Coach in the last 50 years.

This is Pruitt's team!
Dude u cant just snap your fingers and have the next Qb ready. I believe u getting your timeline mixed up or something. Yr1 he got the job right before the early signing period. What elite qb are u getting that late in the recruiting process?? That's how u end up with BM who was a raw talent and Shrout who was a project player. He only started 1 yr in high school. He shouldnt have seen the field til his JR year. He gets a top rated qb in year 3 and a freaking global pandemic disrupts his entire offseason. That only leaves JG. This is why i don't understand why u act like there were options. JG should have been a bridge to the next guy and he fell completely apart. U can throw out all the stats u want. Im not denying any of that. My stance is this is year 3. We got 2 good recruiting classes and u expect to beat fla, uga, & bama smfh. We aint beating them until we start stacking recruiting classes. Imo yr1 was better then expected. Yr2 8-5 with a bowl win. Yr3 covid gives u no offseason at a cruicial time, with an all SEC 10 game schedule, and 5 against top 10 teams. Our ceiling was always 6 wins with some luck and our floor was always 3 wins.

Transfer market genius....Wienke sucks - he got run from the pros - absolutely no development of QBs at TN under Pruitt and His fn staff. You are freaking blind.

Even with the Wyoming game I still always thought they should have given you a couple more years, Coach and transition into a designated successor... oh and Bama just scored again.

Nope, and they actually went 4-8, but don’t let facts get in your way.
