my initial thoughts on the bama game is that we have more depth than they do. they are used to starting out big and holding the lead. I really believe if we can weather the storm early (meaning our "D" shows up) we can wear them down in the 3rd and 4th quarter (aka Kentucky game). other than that, we can't play catch up against them...we have to make it a long, slow game. If we do, i really think we can pull it off. Would love to spoil their season...love it. Nothing is better than watching Bama walk off the field with their heads down and hearing rocky top in the background. nothing.

What you guys think?

The defense is the only thing that has shown up most of the year. We need intensity start to finish, and every player on the field needs to be in the Eric Berry mindset.

I definitely agree that if we can take it to the fourth quarter, then we have a chance with our depth. Spoiling their season would give me a real reason to smile about Tennessee this year.

Only problem I see with that analogy......dating back to last year we are about as bad as Bama when it comes to 2nd half woes.

I believe the boys will be pumped up for this game.
The 98 team will be there.
It is alabama.
GO VOLS!!!!

I believe Alabama will hold the ball for 38-40 minutes. I hope our Red Zone defense can stand up and we get two or more defensive/special teams scores. :crossfingers:

The key is pounding the rock and controlling the line of scrimmage and eating up clock...basically if we play FISHER ball we have a good shot at winning this game.

The vols absolutely have to keep it close early. If I remember correctly bama jumped out in front of KY 14-0 in the first quarter. The just let them come back later on. The jumped all over GA in the first half 31-0 .. GA did scored 30 points in the 2nd half.
The bad news is that bama has actually done better on the road this year.
I dont think our offense would be able to come back if we get down by more than 2 scores in the first half. We really need the D to come up with a TD or 2 to stay in this game.

ya all im asking is that 1. Arenas doesnt return the opening kick for a td... and 2. that they dont score on their first drive

both of those things would just deflate the crowd but i think we can win
GO VOLS

We have to weather the storm early and not make stupid mistakes. We cant give them anything and we cant get behind. Every guy with a T on his helmet needs to be playing like a wild man. GO VOLS, BEAT BAMA !!!

Unfortunately, I don't think it matters how motivated we are or how hard the kids play. We got a coach trying to play checkers against a master of chess.

I said against florida that we would need to keep them from jumping on us early as we saw how that went. I'm bracing myself for another kick in the balls tomorrow.

Bama has scored 171 points in the first half this year and 55 in the second. For their last 3 SEC games, they've scored 69 in the first half and 13 in the second.

well we have to keep up with them. If we get behind even 14-0 fulmer will give up on the run and we become one dimensional. Bama will come after us. I hope stevens doesnt get hurt.

The crowd will be big and loud, for sure. The team must keep us in it for us to have a chance. Nothing would make me happier than waking up Sunday with no voice.

Thinking back to last week, the second half worked out pretty good.

You have the right prescription... keep it close early. Bama hasn't shown up well in the second half. Don't know what'll be the impact of our missing our star nose guard (Cody). I'm very worried about this game. Hopefully we have an injury-free game that's memorable for one of the fan bases... preferably good memories for Bama.

Did you say we have a depth advantage? Bama's strength is running the ball. One of our weaknesses is D-line and depth at D-line.

It doesn't paint a pretty picture.
