Thoughts?

• Oregon clearly doesn't have a clue if it is just searching for the next hot name to fill its vacancy. It's so obvious that most of these schools don't have a plan when they fire their coach. You must have an idea of who you can get, and there are ways to do it, before you decide to get rid of your coach. Oregon wasn't going to nab any of the elite names in the game. If the Ducks did it would only be due to the financial package, which wouldn't probably be more than what these coaches were making at their previous stops.

So far, Seton Hall and Auburn are the only BCS conference schools who have appeared to know what they are doing in regards to hiring a new basketbal coach.

How do you get all of those hieroglyphics in your posts sometimes?

I have no idea. Anytime I edit a post from my mobile device, it happens.

Mike Anderson is now emerging as a candidate for Oregon. They may end up getting this right in spite of themselves.

The only thing stupider than retaining an awful coach is firing one without the first clue who you're going to hire to replace him.

I recall you encouraging this exact scenario when the "skoal bandits" were in charge here.

I happen to agree with you here though.

Prehmmer should chime in on this one if he's around.

There's a difference between awful and completely and undeniably incompetent. I'd fire Greg Adkins knowing he was going to be replaced by Miley Cyrus.

is it easier or harder to hire a good basketball coach than a football coach? Surely there is more competition between schools-but does that also increase the qualified applicant pool?

What do you think the odds of Anderson leaving MU are?
He has been a blessing since the Quin Snyder debacle.

I've talked or texted with a number of coaches today. None of them think Anderson would take that job and all of them think he'd be crazy to do so, absent Oregon paying him over 3 mil a year.

Thanks, I wouldnt think so either. Just worried about the money they could throw at him. Loyalty and good sense goes so far when the money gets that large.

looks like oregon is close to hiring anderson (at least according to the oregonian). must have thrown a lot of money at him.

Link? I tried to Google it but it might be hiding.

Also, if you type in "Mike Ande" into Google, look at the first thing it suggests. lol
