Sorry for starting yet another thread and maybe this gets merged. But look. There is no denying the way Fulmer was let go was a terrible way to treat one of the best coaches in this programs history. Maybe we just have bad Karma and until we do something to reverse it, maybe things will stay bad.

Today, VolNation proved they have the strongest VOICE of all. Lets use it, lets let the AD know we want UT PEOPLE IN CHARGE and to coach here. Reverse the karma, bring in those that love UT. Make Fulmer or Blackburn AD asap. Hire Cutt as HC, Tee as OC and HC in waiting and fill this staff with VFLs.

It may not be big or explosive, but thats not happening. I truly believe we just need people in here that understand what UT football is about. Can we all get on board with this? We have to stop treating our own terribly.

Something that hasn't happened yet during the past 9 years. It might take a second to build, but at least the doubt and cynicism would be lower that our coaches and our AD wasn't trying to manipulate the Big Orange tit.

Wrong, we're paying for the miracles it took to win in 98'. Some of you people don't really understand how Karma works. Fulmer was probably the most negative influence in UT sports in my lifetime, you want him back? :good!::good!:

I swear, the amount of emotional reaction on this forum is staggering. Karma is imaginary. The notion that a past action can somehow "taint" a situation in such a fashion is superstition. And closing ranks around "Tennessee men" isn't any more of a guarantee than any other approach.

Did Alabama go for an Alabama man when they hired Saban? No, they just hired a competent winning coach with a good track record. Saban played ball in Ohio. No problem fitting in at Alabama.

Did UCLA hire a Bruin when they went for Chip Kelly? No, they just hired a competent winning coach with a good track record. I think Kelly played a little ball up in the Northeast when he was in school. But, Yankee or not, he won and won big.

Did Georgia hire a Dawg when they snagged Mark Richt all those years ago? No, they just hired an excellent offensive coordinator with ... well, you get the idea. Richt was a Miami product, by the way.

All this "hire a Tennessee guy" stuff is an emotional reaction to a volatile situation. It's natural to flock to the comfortable and the familiar in the face of adversity, which maybe works in certain situations (Johnny Majors) but isn't any more a guarantee than the next approach. And what if you're passing over a number of better candidates just to get that mythical individual? If there's a situation where the right person existed, sure, maybe, but right now there's no such person. So pick the best available. Pick, stabilize, and move on.
