I think Pendleton gets reps at C with Sham at RG. Satterwhite is going to have to show up and show out this spring to play.

Too many unknowns to say at this point. Is anyone else leaving? Who is going to be available? One thing is clear. If UT is aggressive in the portal for OL after Spring practice, it tells me we are in big trouble.

I would wait and see if additions were reaches or no-brainers before mounting the bridge railing in this room. Lots of YOUNG talent to sift through so a little more experience and leadership would be nice, especially at tackle.

We only signed a handful of transfers and two of them were interior lineman. If we can’t develop even a single high schooler into a starting guard or center, that’d be a shame. Roll with the guys we have at this point
Yea, just bite the bullet and go young. Because of COVID, NIL and the transfer portal, we’ve assembled an OL group over the last several seasons with mostly average talent but plenty of experience. And that has limited the playing time for many of the younger recruits. It’s time to get those playing time and see who's who.

Does Spyre have funds ready to pay a blue chip lineman?
NIL will be a big consideration for a transfer player.

We've already picked up 2 IOL so far in the portal. Sam Pendleton, from ND, looks good on paper.

I am not mounting the bridge railing, but I have seen several posters say we need to hit the portal hard for OL. I like the roster we have. A good mix of experience (Heard, Moe, Pendleton, and Johnson III) with some good young talent (Anderson, Warren, Satterwhite, Ginther, and Perry). You are right about lots of young talent to sift through. But if we have to hit the Spring portal hard, it's not a good sign. It means portal losses and/or a lack of confidence in what we have. We shall see.

Has the staff done it since they've been here? I can't think of anyone.

For me the worry with our O Line is someone getting in Nico's ear, like the snake that is Lane Kiffin, to say "Do you want to run for your life again all season? We've got an explosive offense too but we've got a solid line to let you work behind...."

I assume Spyre has made sure Nico is comfortable in Knoxville but if he wants 2025 to be his last year in college, wants to have that breakout season, wants to show he's ready for the next level, he's going to want to be sure he's got protection up front.

Having an iffy O Line isn't good but potentially having someone get to Nico because we have an iffy O Line would be really bad.

Seems like an obvious case to lawyer up and make the NCAA fold like a cheap tent once again
