“Yes, he was vetted,” Raja Jubran, vice chair of UT’s Board of Trustees, wrote to fellow board member and former Tennessee football player Brad Lampley on Nov. 26. “We talked to Greg smith the AD for Ohio State who only had glowing reports and they vetted him longer than we did since he was already on board when the news came out.

“I need to also let you know how impressed I was with John Currie the past 3 weeks. He is doing a great job with all the vetting and due diligence. Last but not least, The chair of our athletics committee has been a great resource to all of us, he has been specifically helpful to me, providing much needed guidance and advice.”
