Kamara-Plausable reason(s)

We're there, or are there players that really don't like him? Besides maybe Hurd?

Lost a "ton". Because of his arrogance?

I don't remember this being a major issue.

I have chattavol on ignore for a reason but since he's quoted I will respond.

When Butch runs off bad apples it's because of his arrogance.

When kids do drugs and get let go it's because of Butch's arrogance.

I would keep going but you know how the rest would go. Second verse same as the first.

Preston Williams and Vic Wharton grew up die hard vol fans. These kids weren't troublemakers or bad apples. They just didn't feel respected or appreciated by butch. Every team has some attrition but most of the players leaving a place like bama do it because of the depth chart. We don't have depth anywhere really...so it's important for us to keep our kids in the fold

This won't make sense to you, but little does. I would rather have a cliche machine like Jones than a media darling like Dooley who I have heard too many of the local sports journalists recall his press conferences with so much fondness. And if you want him gone, pony up the buyout. Everybody is waiting.

No matter who replaces him, it will be the same old song and dance from you every two or three years.

Man that's garbage. Like I'd be complaining if we were competing for sec championships on a regular basis. Lol. I complained about Dooley and butch because they were incompetent coaches in over heir heads. I want the same thing every fan wants. A great coach and a winning program

Thought my post was clear....that Hurd, his biggest, most prominent prized in-state recruit, would be the focal point of the offense, would get his touches, pretty much no matter what. And he kept the promise.....to the detriment of Alvin and our offense flourishing moreso with the better player and better fit getting more playing time.

KB, couple that with Hurd being CBJ's first actual 5 star nationally prominent type player he captured. Chances are CBJ just had zero experience dealing with that sort of talent AND the ormia donna type baggage that comes with some of them. Seems like CBJ had a tiger by the tail in Hurd and went with the "you can wear a green jersey during practices" and promising stuff to hear the family tell it routes with him and it didnt pan out. I daresay Butch probably learned his lesson, I doubt another kid gets over on him like this again.

Yea knowing the scenario more fully now I think Butch was doing everything to keep everbody happy including hurd with his "greater than all" attitude.

He and the team finally got tired of it.

I agree, the whole "Butch made me play running back and I got hurt because I got hit" thing is BS. Guess what you play football, that means you hit people or you get hit. Don't like it pick up golf or tennis.
Ask the Wisconsin or Bama running backs if they complain to their coaches about "too many carries". Guess what, they would grant the request and the player would be off the team immediately.
Your getting a free education playing a kids game, shut the hell up.
OK, thanks for getting me riled up, it's my day off and I should be relaxing. Guess it's time for a beer, cheers. :)

lol I'm sure some players left because they didn't like Butch but Preston probably thought he should play right away without earning it (anyone who paid attention to his recruiting can see this being plausible) and Wharton was about to be BURIED on the depth chart. And it's not like Wharton has a reputation for staying at schools very long; just look at him during his HS years.

But please continue to make things up.

I question whether Kamara is a twenty carry a game back. To me he is one of those guys you get the ball to in a variety of ways, screens, slot, PR, sweeps, reverses, wildcat, etc. and we criminally did not do that enough. Both he and Hurd needed twenty touches a game, Hurd between the tackles and Kamara in the variety of ways I mention above. They should have played a lot at the same time and did not for whatever reason.
Am game, he was incredible.

Hurd was an every down back and something this year went wrong. Hurd could take the punishment, make the tough yards between the tackles and was a good receiver. He was by far the best blocker in the backfield when he was in the protection package. What happened with Hurd this year is something that has never been really explained. He was well on his way to being the all-time UT rusher and that doesn't happen unless you are a really good player. To me its just a mystery. Alvin could have really made his mark this year but he did have problems staying healthy.

I just don't think Hurd is/was all that. To me, he didn't seem fluid as a runner. He didn't glide and couldn't move with ease.

As many carries as he had/would have that dude shudda had a gazillion yards.

I liked him a lot his first two years..... he was a baller.... I still shake my head over his behavior last season.

Seriously guys, how does a coach not tell how much better Kamara was? Does he not realise how ignorant he looks not utilizing him more? That's why I say there is something more to that whole deal

The unpopular answer, the one that will get me attacked as a "nega-vol", but the one I find to be most truthful, poor coaching. Butch praised Kamara all the time talking about how he needed more touches in the game, but those touches never materialized until Hurd lost his freakin' mind.

Hurd is crazier than Arian Foster.

Even if Butch made promises to Hurd, he made a commitment to his team. You play the players that give you the best chance to win. Kamara's skill set is undeniable. He's far more multidimensional than Hurd. Not to play him more was poor coaching on Butch's part. It's not a desire for Butch to fail that I say this, it's simply a fact. Every coach has screw ups. Butch screwed up on this one.
